    Not that I know the guy or have seen him play and it's not really my or anyone's business other than himself, but why would you choose Australia above Iran if you were born in Iran.

    I mean I could understand any proper team, even Sweden or USA, but why Australia? They also play in Asia, aren't any better than Iran and don't really have a higher chance of winning any cups or qualifying for the world cup. As he already lives and plays outside of Iran, it's not even the living conditions that one should take into consideration.

      Cause he thinks he's a sefid-poost Aussie and will be accepted.

        This is a recent article. Very unfortunate and disappointing if true.

          Daniel Arzani, Iranian playing for Australia U-17

          Let’s be honest, the interviews with his father did not seemed like they were raised like Iranians. I hope Daniel enjoys his 4,5 call ups max and then never get invited again.

          "For me it’d have to be Australia," he said”

            A lot of times players don't want to burn bridges and kiss ass with whichever country that is doing the interview with them. But Arzani went a step further and already announced that he chooses Australia.
            You could say that things still could change, like for example it did with dejagah. However you can't compare Australia who barely makes it to the World Cups with Germany, regular Champions of the World Cup. Getting in the Aussie squad is possibly 50x easier.

            I would say chances are very slim that we'd ever see this kid play for Iran.

              Forget this kid - he already rocking a Australian jersey in the pic as well.

              He’s made his choice - we should move on, we have other talented players in the pipeline.

                This thread is starting to remind me of dejagah’s when he was deciding to join TM or not. So many accusations and frustrations shown and flung about.

                  On one hand I don´t blame him, I mean he is raised up in Australia and feels like an Australian. Even though I am absolutely sure that he would pay a good role in Iran´s future football.
                  But it´s more than fair that he decides this way now, instead of playing with both federations.

                  But honestly, when he is not sure, he also doesn´t the most import thing which is needed to play for Iran:
                  Gheyrat

                  I mean, look on our players:
                  - They pay the tickets to the games by themselves and wait for months until the refund by the federation;
                  - They deal with an absolute incompetent federation;
                  - Can you remember when Reza catches an injury because the federation booked him economy from London to Tehran;
                  - They have to deal with a lot of restrictions for clothes, hair or tattoos;
                  - When travelling (especially in Arabic countries) they are threaten like shit and have to wait for hours to enter the country.

                  Nevertheless they come and make their duty for their homeland. Just because they have Gehyrat and love the people.
                  And this amazing country which is in our blood and veins, no matter in which corner of the world we are.

                  And if DA doesn´t feel this way, maybe it is better if he doesn´t join. Talent is 50%. But the rest is love, passion and Gheyrat.
                  I wish him as much luck, as I wished Behnam Safavi. But he is Australian, non-Iranian.

                    im baffled as to how and why no one connected with TM even bothered to reach out to the kid and better assess his possible desires for possibly repping TM someday..??

                    if as DuhNeeyal claims, No one from TM has yet to contact him, then tbh, his recent tendencies to rep Aussies is quiet justifiable in light of their immense efforts to develop and nurture his talent ..!

                      I tagged Mikoo, TM trainer, in the last Tweet about Arzani. Did the same when Saman was not on TM's radar.

As much as someone contacting him from our side would show good awareness and reflect well on us, the idea of whoring ourselves out to individual players doesn't sit right with me. Yes, more professional countries and big name players have done it and yes, it may well mean us improving the quality of our national pool but serious questions have to be asked as to the motivation of these players if they need all these assurances and what not to commit to representing our country.
                        It should be a decision of the heart, unfortunately, it's often becoming more of a selfish decision of personal gain these days. Either way, I'll hold every individual who commits to us in high regard for they've earned it but I certainly won't be losing sleep over some Aussie kid's 'rejection' and I'm not going to blame anyone for failing to convince him otherwise.
                        true, and to be honest playing well in the A-league doesn't automatically mean you can tear it up in higher EU leagues. I rate the A-league a serious level below our own PGL, Australian teams do horribly in the Asian Champions League. So really it's no big loss if we lose this Australian kid to Soccerroos.

                        Anyone who thinks that the A-league is better than PGL is delusional. Dutch footballers who are nearing the end of their career go to Australia and play for a club like Sydney Wanderers often say: A-league is to enjoy a vacation and training on the beach, it says enough about the quality of that league.

                        Of course if Australia would still be in OFC this Daniel kid would choose Team Melli in a heart beat. But we don't need someone who doesn't want to represent our nation and wear pride in our jersey.

                        I want us badly to get matched up against Australia next year in the Asian Cup. God please make it happen.

                          I don't think race will be a factor in the fans' treatment of him. If he's good, he'll be loved. In that sense at least, Australia is not how you imagine.

                          Anyway, if he wants to represent Australia, I respect that. I wish him the best (other than when he faces Iran). Who are we to judge the very unique and personal feelings of national affiliation he has?
                          Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

                            Mustafa Amini is a solid player (at a top Danish team AGF) and with 2 caps in 2017 and 2018 combined, he's quite ignored by the head coach of Australia. He is of Afghan origin.

                              Hokomateh Islami, nemekhiam, nemekhiam.

                              I agree with you - I was being facetious. There is always a story behind these type of decisions, but sometimes those decisions are rooted in rejecting your background. Either way, if he did for a fact choose Australia, he is no different than Cahill or Omar Khbrin to me - just another AFC player.

                                The head coach recently changed. He still wasn't called up. Maybe the guy isn't good enough?
