you could mention maybe that they played without Haddadi and Samad and Yakhchali played only 6mins, everyone else between 12 an 28...and I mean EVERYONE else on the team...it was pretty much a rest day without caring who wins....philippines plays without Andrey Blatche

we won all these games without Samad, who is resting from a light injury
the stars of the U19 team arent ready yet but will be soon
Which is it? You can't have it both ways. Iran lost to that Korea team with samad's fk ups last year and now they beat them by 20+ without samad. Maybe that means at this stage the team is better without samad. So you can't use his absence as an excuse for the loss to the U.S.

still a double digit loss to a team without any names is pretty bad in my books with few of the stars resting for this game! this goes to show that we do not have anyone on the bench. who played for team USA?!?

anyone know the US squad ?

Nevermind. Just saw their squad. A bunch of no name players. The only player I could recognize on their squad is Josh Powell and he is nothing special either

guys as i mentioned in the past, no matter what US team we play we will lose 9 out of 10 times. Game of basketball is not like soccer where a team can surprise another. US basketball has enough tactics, experience and they know how to play a game where as the sport is very new for our country and we are very inexperienced. Even hamed who was in NBA for 4 yrs couldnt learn to improve himself. a lot of it could also be lack of access for kids to watch NBA or euro leagues. you can learn a lot by watching and immitating, we need more money pumped into this sport and we need to see more basketball courts around Iran before we can compete with any top team in basketball. The history is just not there for us

Yea we need stuff like that and overall more experience. i think like most sports we lack mentality and work ethics. Our culture in general is too k00n goshaad and we need to develop athletes who are inspired and have a vision and hunger. people think the reason siahs are good at this game is genetics or something but MAJORITY of it is the drive and willingness to practice and try and try. There are so many kids who play this game for hours in a day and against many others so their game IQ grows, they learn faster, they watch other players on tv and analyze, they have soooo many tools so yea over time when you have a huge pool of people participating you're bound to find some good ones out of that bunch. How many kids play basketball in US vs. Iran? its probably 100x more in US.....so just basic statistics tells you the chances of finding better players is exponentially higher

tv coverage is not a problem, in Iran they show both NBA and Euro leagues so whether or not kids are watching is up to them, unless their really poor and don't have tv's

Iran wins the Cup today by beating Russia. Good warm up tournament for the boys. hopefully this will get them ready for the asian cup.
