As I predicted this was our toughest match. I knew we may flop again. This generation has no more steam left in them they are over 30 years old already.

Just saw how can teams qualify for rio2016 with tournaments. It is just impossible!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_F...nament_for_Men
3 groups of 6 teams, only the winner of each groups will qualify! And there is teams like France, Canada, Greece, Italy + 3 guests.
As this tournaments is really high level, why not prepare the future and throw some youngs? haven't we some young good prospects in U21 etc... or am I mistaken with volleyball?

To answer your question about phillipines and china, they are good for Asia but they're not better than us. In past 5-6 yrs we've beaten all these teams but they're not good on world level. Our team lacks fundamentals as i mentioned above. There is a problem with game IQ and defense, which majority dont know how to play. We dont have 3 point specialists that can knock them down consistently and we cant defend other teams that take 3s either. Only Arsalan Kazemi can do these things and haddadi on the inside. Problem is haddadi hasnt improved over the years with his NBA experience and looks like he's gotten worse overall. We need better development to make smarter players and also more aggressive types. Sadly our only scorers in haddadi and samad nikkhah are old and soon will be gone.

what a crap performance by TM basketball. We were scared to shoot today. don't hesitate to shoot the 3 when you have an open look. Unforced turnovers gave China too many fast breaks, and at times we defended well but they would hit the contested 3s. If it wasn't for our shitty first quarter performance we could have somehow pulled the game out, but at the end of the day our offence was horrendous today, and i could see this coming against a good chinese side after our shitty performances in the games before.

It was a piss poor performance by our team! they couldn't buy a three or defend them either and it probably didn't help to have arguably our best three point shooter Afagh injured for the game!
Maybe with Afagh and Kazemi the team could have performed better. I am especially disappointed with the youngsters in the team Jamshidi and Yaghchali...it doesn't seem like they have improved much even with good experience at International competition. I just hope there a good new talents coming through in our basketball because we really need it.

I just hope we don't let our guard down in the third place match against Japan.

TM's problem is mentality. From the 9-point deficit in the first quarter, the team seemed to have no intention of coming back. Losing cool at the worst of times, mistakes and lack of motivation ain't the way to go if you were thinking of a berth in the finals. Looks like they weren't aiming for gold in the first place. And good luck to them with Olympic qualifying as well, they'll need it.
ALSO WHY didn't they play Hassanzadeh!? He only came on very briefly.
