The problem with Iran is that they can't play from behind. When they are ahead, they play team ball, pass the ball around... But when they are behind, they only think about taking 3 pointers. Speaking of Haddadi, his best performance was in 2007 Asian Games. He has been downhill ever since.

But regardless of whether they are behind or ahead, TM seems to keep making the same sloppy mistakes. I think being ahead, while an advantage and a good position to be in, is still dangerous IMO as the players can become reckless or cocky and lose guard, which could potentially allow strong teams to come back into the game, maybe even change the outcome.

I just read that Davari was injured in the first quarter. So actually we were missing our 2 best 3-point shooters in the most important match.

This game is painful. Samad alone score 4 3-pointers so far in the first quarter. Why couldn't we play this yesterday??

our team is not good enough for international basketball. we may make it close but we are very unlikely to beat such teams.

Iran got the bronze by beating Japan 68-63. Good to finish with a win.

EXACTLY my sentiments! Samad's 3-pointers were definitely a painful reminder about what the outcome could've been if we could keep our nerves and play like that in the China match.
On another note, would anyone know why Arman Zangeneh and Rouzbeh Arghavan weren't selected for the squad?

Well actually that is the point... We can't just rely on the 3s... haven't you heard you win by the threes and you die by the threes. We have to have a plan B. We should always start with inside game and have them collapse on our centers and power forwards which will then kick it outside to open shooters.

Zangeneh was injured just before the tournament unfortunately. Arghavan wasn't good enough and the coach decided to take two centers to the competition.

Great decision by Bauermann to take Hassanzadeh. He played a great tournament.

i thought i commented but i think it got deleted. I cannot believe we let china dunk all over us. Hamed and Samad need to be ashamed, they got dominated. Unfortunately our run is over, these guys are retiring and i dont see many promising players coming up, except Arsalan.

don't be so negative man. one loss doesn't mean its over! This team was missing a few key players and could have done better.

China gets to play this competition on their own turf which makes a big difference. These same guys can win again.
