I am sure he would like to as he is not from a religious family and not an IR puppet but it is not up to him unforuantely.
I am just trying to find out for sure but I think we can already know the draw. If my understanding is correct Farzan must play the 16th placed ranked athlete among those qualified. Israeli athlete is 15th placed so he might just avoid him. I think our friend Irann can shed some light on this.

i think this time the olympic commitee will not easily let get iran away with this. there will be strong zionist pressure this time! at best, farzan will be out without whole iran team getting suspended.

Looks like this will not be like 2012 olympics in terms of winning medals. hopefully it will not be like 2008 olympics! we can expect something like 2000/2004. its hard to expect more of them, given the ages of some of them, injuries, farzan with the israeli guy etc. it smells like 2008 to me...
btw whats going on with behdad salimi? will he be fit? but being injured like him, a gold can of course not be expected.

Yes i also believe its not up to him to fight or not fight but what i mean is that i believe this will an option even for those who will decide. Maybe i'm unrealistic and its not even an option..

Salimi will win medal most likely. he is doing 215kg in snatch which is world record but he cant C&J like before. and yes the russian who beat the world record in his weight is banned for doping.
