He was banned for doping at the time. it was an internal test inside Iran , that's why you can't see his name in IWF sanctioned athletes list.

As for Khadabakhshi, there is a reason he is known as the "terminator". If he repeats what I saw from him in world champs 2015 even Aaron Cook won't cause him a problem, let alone Milad Beigi.
Kimia on the other hand seems to have a though road. The croatian girl is pretty good!!
You are looking at the "World Ranking" which is not the one you should check, you should check the "Olympic Ranking"

well I guess you didn't watch Beigi fighting, no surprise he is a bit new to international competition, he is 10 times better than likes of Cook, I don't even consider Cook a treat for him, to me only two athletes are serious treat for Khodabakhshi, Beigi and Cisse from Ivory Coast, even Iranian coaches are worry about this guy. Beigi beat Khodabakhshi in Iran once that's why those cheaters in Azerbaijan noticed him to buy him later. he lost very narrowly to Khodabakhshi in 2015 world team trials and Khodabakhshi went on destroying everybody to win the world title. Beigi won the European title over Cook and other European fighters. he was the only reason Azerbaijan beat Iran in World Cup team event even though Khodabakhshi didn't participate but Beigi completely destroyed other Iranians.

btw Beigi has the former head coach of Iran NT on his side, he is a serious treat , very serious.

85kg: Rostami had 4 serious opponents, Aukhadov (RUS) is already out, tested positive for his silver medal in London, still we have 2015 World Champion Okulov (RUS), this weird Chinese guy Tian Tao and a new Kazakh athlete Ulanov who set crazy records recently. if IWF bans those countries, Rostami only has to deal with Tian Tao ! his silver medal is almost secured right now.

94kg: out of top 4 weightlifters in world champs last year, 3 of them already failed the drug test ! and the other one (the gold medalist) is from Belarus, probably the only one who can challenge Sohrab Moradi. without him Moradi already has gold medal in his pocket ! unless something crazy happens.

105kg: if they ban Kazakhstan and Russia, there is only one guy remaining (Nurudinov UZB) better than our Barari here, this will give Barari a very good chance for medal. Ilya Ilyin is already banned for doping, if they ban KAZ and RUS we won't see likes of Bedzhanyan and Zaichikov.

+105kg: with Lovchev out of the picture We already knew only 2 athletes can challenge Salimi for gold, Talakhadze (GEO) and Albegov (RUS) if they ban Russia, Salimi can be almost guaranteed a silver. still I doubt Salimi can beat this Georgian kid who was fantastic this year but who knows, Salimi is improving.

beside these 4 guys, we will send one more weightlifter , Molaei (+105) or Hashemi (94). they will probably send Hashemi since 94kg is the weakest weight at the moment but even +105 is not deep, Molaei can try his chance for bronze behind Salimi and Talakhadze
            thanx!!!

When do we know if these countries gets banned or not?

he is indeed a traitor but he is from Isfahan is far as I know, he is just a dirty person who sells himself for money. and he is not alone, there are 3-4 more Iranian taekwondo athletes now competing for them, he is just their best. they also have our former head coach Reza Mehmandoust.

nobody knows ! they have to be quick, not so much time remaining, but first they have to wait for IOC to test B samples for 2008/2012 athletes, that's their routine before taking a decision.

Behdad and Rostami didn't participate and I have to say the rest including Moradi didn't impress at all,

Moradi lifted more than the current world record in CJ but his snatch was poor by his standards. which gives him 414 in total, A polish guy Zielinski just lifted 409 in Poland nationals (even though he was 4-5kg over weight) which means Moradi will have rivals in Rio.

btw Ilya Ilyin most prbably will lose his Olympic golds and his world records.

At this moment we have 61 qualified athletes. Does anyone know how many more can still qualify?

most probably nobody else, since we missed the last Boxing qualifying event, thanks for our stupid federation being late for asking for visa, the only sport remaining is athletics and there is only one competition remaining for them , Tehran Grand Prix. I doubt any of them can reach the standards but there are slim chance for some of them.

I think 99% we will send 61 athletes to Rio
