So the American 4x100 relay boots China out...but the question is did the Americans interfere with Brazil or vice versa. Note the American who dropped the baton used her left hand to pass it, while all other runners used their right. So in fact the arguement can be made the American drifted from the centre of her lane and encroached on the Brazilians who legally remained in their lane.

There clearly is a bump from the Brazilian, whether it is intentional or not. In T&F you have to stay in your lane. And pictures show that the Brazilian runner even had a foot outside.

That said, I definitely think there is favoritism towards Team USA because of the TV/NBC influence. But in this case it's hard to argue against the rules.

I felt the same way when Alyson Felix of the USA finished second in the 400m final after the Bahamas girl dove for the finish line, in what looked like an illegal and unsportsmanlike move. But it's legal according to IAAF rules. Ironically, Felix is the one who dropped the baton today. She told the runners to finish the race so that they could protest the bump, which was smart because if they didn't complete the race they couldn't file a protest. She's one of the more classy and educated athletes in these Games, so if she felt it was her fault she would've fessed up.
