he is s great shooter he just doesn't want to shoot. I've seen him shoot trust me! I've played horse with him (no dunking allowed) and I am a good shooter. I do a bank 3 pointer he follows. I do a baseline three he follows. And watch the summary of the team USA Iran game in 2010 on YouTube . Does that look like a guy who can't shoot!?
He just doesn't want to shoot. That's not his game. Coaches are not asking him to shoot. You guys are the ones who want him to shoot!

Arsalan Kazemi @ Atlanta Hawks Thread !

No one is suggesting he should be a high volume scorer. He hussles. He has great positioning. He can rebound really well. He has his head up. Has a high game IQ. I don't understand. Why can't he be a little more assertive offensively to put a few more points on the board?

Anyway, it's not up to me to dictate to someone how to live their life and what to do with their career. It is absolutely his choice. I was just curious about his thought process, overall game plan and what he has been focusing on to improve in his game.

I know you are not doing that and I appreciate it. But come on man. There is politics involved.
This is my opinion and mine only (Not Arsalan's): I think in borderline cases he gets passed on. I mean don't take my word for it. Just look at the situation. He comes in the 4th quarter against Miami. goes against whiteside and completely frustrates him. He is like white on Rice. Whiteside gets so frustrated that he fouls him hard midcourt for no good reason and sends him to the line.
I also need to mention that Arsalan and whiteside were teammates in highschool and are friends and keep in touch. With all of that he still fouled him like that.
Fast forward to a few nights ago, hassan whiteside has 25-15 against the rockets with dwight howard and chuck hays playing. Chuck hays is the guy they signed for 1.3 million for that 15th spot arsalan was trying to get. He had one rebound only. Arsalan had 6 in 13 minutes. Arsalan would have cost the rockets less than half at 525 K. he always plays hard and this would be just the beginning of his career. so he will keep on playing hard to prove himself. Chuck hays has been in the league for 10 years and is playing for the veteran's minimum and has no incentive to play hard.
Now you tell me there is no politics.
I am a diehard lifelong Bayern fan. In 1999 Ali Daei was better than Jancker. But he was on the bench while yancker wasted opportunities and then the infamous Man U Bayern game happened. The rest is history. We just have to deal with it.

There is an obvious bias. But that is always going to be there. He can't do anything about that. He needs to focus on what he CAN control.

In my opinion, there are two types of people he should stay away from. The 1st are the people who blow smoke up his rear end and tell him how awesome he is to take advantage of him. The 2nd are the ones that tell him he sucks and will never make it to the nba.

He should be looking at his situation objectively and really evaluate what areas he needs to improve on to give himself the best shot at making it. I for one will keep rooting for him and I know that I am not alone.

Please tell him to keep his head up and continue to work hard the way he has been doing. He will surely have future opportunities to show people he can play in the nba.

Everything is his choice and yes the politics and sixers screwed him over, but overall AK has to do something to improve his game and make him more attractive for other teams. And that is his shooting. No one will kill him if he takes a shot and misses it. He can afford to take a couple of shots each game even if he doesnt want to. I know you have encouraged him to do this as well, i just wish he took it more seriously and if he just had a tad bit more of an offensive games, teams would've been more interested. When you have such a little time to show yourself, the teams dont go that extra mile to see what he does like the way we see it. They analyze by the overall game, not just him specifically. So when they see that they cant rely on him offensively, it limits his options big time. I really hope this year he decides to take this seriously as its his last chance at making a team. There have been many players like him who didnt have a shooting game, blake griffin comes to mind, and within his 1st yr of NBA he improved it and now he's taking shots. AK needs to be hungiers, but as Ridi-Q-Lus mentioned its all his choice, we have no right to tell him what to do and he is more of an expert in this field. But as a personal opinion, he would increase his stock 2x if he just took a few shots each game. It cannot be that hard to attempt a few jump shots close to the basket or wherever he feels comfortable. As a 6'7" undersized PF, teams arent willing to invest if he doesnt provide offense. He can shoot and he's good at it too, he just needs to do it.

Please keep us up to date what comes next for Arsalan and what his agent is focusing on. Euroleague, China or what ever...Mer30 Persianbruin. Im pretty sure that a euroleague team would be good for him at this state of his career

                  Comment

I'm not an expert on Euroleague but I'm guessing there is more emphasis on fundamentals there, so having a good stroke and shooting FTs at a high percentage are even more important than the NBA there. Other than that the fact that most NBA scrubs go on to dominate in Europe makes me hopeful. And please no more CBA...

I keep hearing "interest". When teams are FULL what good is interest!? By the time Arsalan was waived only 3 roster spots were left open in the ENTIRE NBA.
This is what I mean by the Sixers screwing him. Had they released him right after the summer league. He would have had a great chance. Also don't worry about what people tell him and what kind of people talk to him. He is super smart and knows who he is dealing with the moment they open their mouths.

everyone knows that d-league is all about exposure to nba teams and if you do REALLY well, also for overseas, not to get rich...but he doesnt need that, he needs an overseas job at a good level where he gets paid his market value
