with us losing to Saudi Arabia, our chances are now very slim since we still havent played Bahrain or even UAE to advance from group as top 2 teams.

wtf is going on, they told the teams that 3 teams will go to wc, then they said that since qatar was already qualified they will be in the world cup and if they win the Asia championship (which they will win) teams 2,3,4 will also qualify. which makes our loss to Saudi's loom large!!

We finish as 5th, just because we lost against Saudi and their little brothers Bahrain.

That was a hell of a match against Korea, this win will keep Iran alive for a World Cup berth !

per new rules, there is no direct quota for Oceania, instead there will be a last qualification tournament for "the next best team" in Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. which means Iran still can qualify for the World Championship. they only have to beat Australia, 4th team of Africa (probably Angola) and 4th team of America. Iran is definitely stronger than those teams.

btw this team was just a shadow of the real Iran ! Esteki brothers didn't start the tournament for Iran, Sajjad later joined the team after Bahrain match and really helped them a lot. our Swedish player Danial Komayesh didn't play as well because of his prblems with the coach. our coach also didn't invite the captain "Rajabi". our strating left wing Heidarpour also broke his hand and didn't play here. even during the tournament our key player Pouya Norouzinejad got injured badly and missed the rest of the tournament, our starting GK, Heidarirad also got injured badly as well as Saeid Pourghasemi. and we had another problem Alireza Mousavi had to leave the team during the tournament since his club in Romania just called him ! in fact they had only 12 players against Korea tonight. actually that was a miracle they beat Korea tonight.

In terms of talen the handball team is really good. Only 2nd to Qatar's world elite selection in Asia.
What I don't get is why the legionnaires are such babies. Every excuse in the book with them. They don't give a damn. What is going on with the team?

wow beating S.korea is a big accomplishment. they are one of the power houses in Asia before the arab teams starting bring in european players.

no as far as Ismailagic is in charge, that's what Komayesh claimed himself.

and it seems they will fire him soon, (probably before the Olympic Qualies) it seems most of the players have problems with him.

a bit OT, but Germany, Spain, Norway and Croatia qualified to the semifinal in Euro championships. our group in Olympic Qualifier depends on this tournament.

if Norway win the tournament, we will be in the same group with Spain, Germany and Russia
if Spain win, we will get Denmark, Slovenia and Sweden
if Croatia or Germany win, then we will get Spain, Slovenia and Sweden

no chance to qualify, but at least they can play against 3 world class teams. hopefully we will participate with our complete team.

Regarding this cup, our superstar Sajjad made all the difference. We were a completely different team with him in our last 3 matches. Had the Arabs not screwed his visa issues we would have been in the world cup.

I am not sure if you watched the final of the Olympic qualifications game. Our team was super strong and was tied with Qatar for the first 20 minutes of the game. We missed numerous shots and penalties that would have made us lead them by at least 5 or 6 goals. With Iman there as our best shooter and PK taker we could have beaten by a few goals margin. They weren't as strong as they are hyped to be.
