He got into a bit of a pushing match with his opponent at the weigh-in. Nothing too crazy but Amir's intense lol, here's the video - go to 17:18

LOL. Well that wasn't really a fight. The Brazilian fighter is a pure stand up guy. Tried to keep it standing. Amir didn't even try to throw. Literally walked him down and got him in a clinch. Easy throw to half guard. Transition to a crucifix and then punched the guys head for two minutes before the fight was stopped. Guy is a scary wrestler. I wanted to see his stand up in action a little, but I think he just wanted to advance.

There was no elbows allowed, it could have been a lot worse but Joao wasn't able to defend himself at all. Smart move by Amir, oftentimes Mixed martial artists try to go away from what they are good at and try to mixed it up and strike because they've been doing that in training. If Amir wants to keep climbing the ladder, he needs to go to his wrestling to get him through. His striking game will continue to improve but that takes time, while he's already a world-class, elite wrestler. It was zero risk for Amir to take Joao to the ground but it was risky to try to trade blows with him.

Joao has had some decent wins recently and was on a 4-fight winning streak. Good job by Amir, who made it easy work. He's probably the favorite to win this tournament, and he if does, it will get him amazing traction (will likely get him into UFC).

Overall, a great event. Was so much more hyped for this event than I have been for UFC in a long time (save Mystic Mac fights). Great job by Rizin.

Amir's next fight is against Jiri Prochazka. It's at end of December.

He fought the smart fight. Mixing it up with a Brazilian Muay Thai specialist is never a good idea. He looked fantastic on top. Man what a beast of a man. I thought the stoppage was fine.

The next matchups are not set yet. Dont pay attention to the brackets, those will be changed. Especially now with Cro Cop and Wandy set. I hope he gets Baruto.

The Rizin event was fantastic. Best MMA event in recent memory. I really missed the Pride days. Krazy Horse was worth the price of admission alone. Erson vs. Saiga was one of the best fights of the year.

Man, what Krazy Horse did was unreal - apparently him and Wanderlei got into it again backstage lol - saw the pic. He backed it up vs. Wanderlei's boy - fastest knockout I've seen.

The guy was a moron. It was his first MMA fight as he normally does kickboxing. He decided to throw a flying knee his his hands at his sides. Apparently from the Brazilians I know he has a chin made of glass and no one was expecting much from him.
