Disappointing, I wish he wouldn't sought proper coaching, he has zero striking. I think his MMA run is nearing an end, he isn't going to develop further. At least he gave the sport a try and had a decent run early on
Some of the comments:
- "Dariush brings the Assyrian flag, and I believe Amirkhani also has brought the Kurdish flag to the octagon as well."
- "Edmen Shahbazyan even brought out the Artsakh flag one time"
- "They don’t let Pannie Kianzad bring out the Iranian flag"
Amirkhani does not consider himself Iranian. He identifies as a Finnish guy from a made up country called Kurdistan.
Are we going to start this again?...
He's from Kermanshah, Iran and is Iranian/Kurdish. Could care less what he considers himself for the 100th time, not everyone's as willing as you to represent the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Wherever I go, represent Iran, not the Islamic Republic of Iran, and when someone asks me where I am from, I clearly say "Iranian". So please don't accuse me of my political views when you don't know anything about me.
Regarding Amirkhani however, if you do a quick search, you can see clearly that based on his interviews, social media, and demographic information when being announced for a fight (he solely says he is from Kurdistan, not Kermanshah, or Iran). You would have to be blind to not see what he is doing with the latter, and from what I have seen, he has completely disassociated himself from Iran. He clearly says he is "Kurdish" not "Kurdish-Iranian". If Iran is brought up by someone else (never himself), he may say he is born in Iran, but immediate after it is followed with "but I am Kurdish". He waves a flag of Kurdistan or Finland, and fights under the nickname Mr. Finland.
Lets be clear, I never asked him to wave the flag of the I.R., but this thread is for IRANIANS. Why are you fighting it? He very clearly views himself as Kurdish and Finnish, and that is his choice, and you should accept that and stop wasting your time. Promoting him in this thread is insulting to all Iranians, including yourself.

Yes, this thread is for Iranians, which he is. If you can't seem to accept that and hold a grudge against anyone and anything that is too ashamed to call themselves Iranian because of IR, then that's on you.
You don't get to decide who is Iranian and who isn't. Amirkhani is an Iranian and if you don't want to support him, that's fine. No one's forcing you. But don't come on here and preach BS about someone not being Iranian when they clearly are.
Amirkhani was born in Kermanshah, Iran and is of Kurdish/Iranian heritage. So that's a fallacy in your argument where you're just simply wrong.
Like I've said before, you can continue to support all your IR fighters and show your true colors, and I'll continue to support ALL Iranian athletes regardless of heritage or representation. To each their own; learn to not push your agenda on someone if you disagree with them. You don't have to go out of your way to make BS claims about someone "not being Iranian" because they don't rep Iran as you'd like, when they are in fact Iranian.
Same goes for Dariush - just because some of you don't like him for not proudly repping Iran doesn't mean he's not Iranian by blood. Facts are facts, and these guys are Iranian. Again, Iran is a big melting pot of different ethnicities, not everyone is a Shia Persian as you'd like.

And I like I said before, do not make accusations about my political views and do not associate me with the IR. You simply did not read anything that I said, or you did, and you are too blind to see the reality. You can't find a single article where he says he is Iranian and proud to be from Iran. He does not fight out of Iran, his bio deliberately says "fighting out of Kurdistan", so you're the one that has an invalid argument.
Again, you don't know anything about me. I am Iranian, that's it. When someone asks me where I am from, I have never in my life said "I am Iranian, BUT I am Azerbaijani." Again you knowing nothing about me, you assumed my ethnicity as well. Everyone who is from Iran, and who identifies as Iranian, is Iranian; regardless of their ethnicity. Amirkhani however, considers himself from KURDISTAN, not IRAN. I don't know how to put this more clearly for you to understand, as I honestly think you are incapable of understanding this, so I will leave you spread your false information, as this is a free forum.
Instead of arguing with me, spend some time on his social media and determine for yourself what background he identifies as being form.

Agree with you. Beneil Dariush at least acknowledges the Iranian portion of his background, he has talked about wrestling+MMA in Iran to media publications, and generally seems a lot more favorable towards the idea of identifying as Iranian. On the other hand, even though Amirkhani has Iranian roots he doesn't identify as Iranian and we should respect that. He can't deny his Iranian ancestry but he does have the right to not consider himself primarily Iranian, especially since he grew up in Finland from a very young age (his formative years where he started to develop a personality and identity). I myself have a mixed background and while I do consider myself Iranian, I have many friends who are also mixed or from various other countries but identify more (or completely) with the ethnicity of the country they grew up in, and I understand it. It's not up to me to tell them what to believe as that is a personal matter which they have a right to decide.
lol @ people saying that someone is still iranian when he doesnt give a shit about iran and come with the argument not everyone wants to represent IR.
I die before i call myself something else than Iranian, no matter with IR or without IR. When someone says im from Kurdistan and raises the Kurdish Flag he isnt iranian, very simple and stop fooling yourself, it makes me feel shame when someone calls an anti iranian iranian.
Latest Post of Aliakbari is out on Instagram, he says he is sorry and he trained very hard and these things. In ONE FC i think the best chances has Ali Motamed, he is a serious fighter with very good skills
Also what was interesting is that Ali Abdelaziz who is the Manager of Khabib and many others is the manager of Aliakbari and posted a story saying keep your head up champ.
Also the coach of Khabib Xavier Mendez posted something under Aliakbaris post.
Sadly Aliakbari left AKA Thailand and thought he could become succesful training in Iran, but it seems that it doesnt work out for him. Someone like Malikhin for example trains at Tiger Muay Thai where many UFC Fighters train, with best coaches while Aliakbari trains with Aidin Talebi who looks like Danny De Vito.
