DC United have announced the signing of Italian midfielder Andrea Mancini - the son of Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini.
The 23-year-old joined the MLS outfit on trial during pre-season and impressed in the Tampa Bay Rowdies Sun Coast Invitational.
Mancini will be added to United's squad once he receives a work permit.
"Andrea impressed us in pre-season with his technical proficiency and tactical understanding," United general manager Dave Kasper said.
"We look forward to seeing him develop with the rest of our group."
Mancini, who will wear the number 41 shirt for United, started his career with Inter Milan in 2005 during his father's first stint at the Serie A club.
He joined Manchester City in 2010 following his father's move to the Etihad Stadium, but was released at the end of the 2011-12 season having failed to make a senior appearance for the club.
