Football in America vs rest of the world (lack of diversity and reasons)

An excellent and eyeopening article about problems in US soccer. My older son is in a team and it costs a lot BOTH IN TIME and money.
Just so you guys get an idea, i just put my 5 year old in a team too for 4 /5 year olds, it costs us $400 for 8 Saturday mornings for 30 min plays (2 were canceled so far due to rain). these kids are running around, or just crying, chasing butterflies [parents of toddlers know what i am talking about] and we are paying $400 for it! (i am pulling him out until he gets older, don't think he is ready)

don't miss this article, it makes a lot of sense now seeing US not really being able to live up to its true potential in football and why.

I pay $125 for my son and $110 for my daughter ($15 discount for siblings). AYSO. It never gets cancelled because like the song says "it never rains in Southern California).
What program does your kid go to that is so expensive.

The thousand dollar programs are for rich kids who have daily training who want to play against other rich kids with daily training.
Basically what happens is the poorer kids can't afford the game, and the only ones left are rich kids who need to travel to play against other rich kids at a high level.

Its why hockey is also such a white sport in Canada and the US.

Like many others in this world, I learnt to play football (pretty good) In a narrow Alley with plastic slippers and a Toop dollayee. Why did I and my friend get so much better than Our north American counter-parts with grass fields and Organized leagues? Passion.

I order for you to be good, you need good opponents. If your opponents don't have passion and are just there because mommy and Daddy want them to be active, then the quality of the game will drop.

Essentially, there is no reason for your kid to be in a program before puberty. Just help them develop a basic game in your drive-way/Local park and once they are in middle school they will be introduced to the team element with little cost. By their Junior year of High school if your kid is good enough then it would be a good time to look at spending money on Semi-Professional regional leagues.

I play soccer with my son just about every day in the back yard. He is leaps and bounds better than his peers.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

I think cost of my program in Iran was the yek toman toop & pair of katooni/kafesh melli every ten days. Years later I realized I was kicking a plastic ball which wasn't FIFA's standard.

Soccer in US is so artificial and lacks passion. Kids have to naturally like it and want to play. Not becuz mommy drives you.
They also need to watch some high level soccer on tv to get more into it. Another problem is these games on tv arent easily accessible unless you pay the premium channels and they are scattered over 4-5 networks. And some of these kid games are on weekend mornings when the top Euro leagues are playing. They should be watching those instead of playing. There are just so many issues but i tell u this i would love to have a business with some fields and be able to rent them out. As you mentioned there is good money to be made and not much cost to just maintain the fields if theyre astroturf.

Competitive is a grand, recreational is a hundred.
