2016 Olympics Medal predictions?

Let's make some predictions on the number of medals and who can win them. In 2012 I predicted 4 golds, 4 silver and 4 bronze and we got 4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze.

My predictions:

4 Gold - Weightlifting, Greco-Roman, Taekwondo ×2
3 Silvers - Weightlifting, Freestyle ×2
3 Bronze - Weightlifting, Greco-Roman ×2

this combination is realistic and I would just like to take a leap of faith and say Bronze for Volleyball!

It is possible to get a medal in volleyball. They are expected to make it out of the group stage. The real test is the quarterfinal match. If they can win that match, then a medal is within grabs.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean bro. Sports such as wrestling (where Iranians excell at) are hardly watched by the international community. And Iran is very absent in the more popular sports, such as athletics, swimming, and some other sports. Volleyball is quite popular too, so a medal in this sport will mean much much much more than a medal in wrestling or weightlifting (no disrespect to our wrestlers / weightlifters)

Without checking the past records, London Olympics with 12 medal (4 Gold) was the most successful Olympics for Iran before IRI too.

I would be HAPPY with 12 medals which is possible in Rio too. My prediction is 12 medals with four of them GOLD.

I remember when Ali Daei joined Bundesliga, many said he will become top scorer (well he was benched most of the time at Bielefeld, Bayern, and Hertha) and highest scre in one season was 7 or so at Bielefeld.

I remember when Ali Karimi joined Bayern, there was a thread on PFDC "How many goals do you think he will score".... answers ranged from 10-18 lool
Now we had a great Olympics in London, and people take 4-6 Gold medals for granted...

To be honest, I will be happy if we achieve 5 Medals in total in Weightlifiting, Greco, Freestyle,
and Taekwondo!

Two athletes, that I have special affection and really have special wish for Gold are Reza Yazdani, who has struggled since 4 years with heavy injury, but if in shape he is the best in the world in 97kgs; and Saeed Abdevalli, who witnessed the greatest day robbery in Greco history TWICE, at London 2012 and Asian Games 2014 (that was outrageous and a crime!), however due to new weight classification now he is wrestling in a different weight-class where his chances are not big, still wish him what he deserves!

And on top these two I am hopeful for Hamid Sourian, Kianush Rostami, and Salimi to get medals (any color)

iran can gain at least 4 gold, if we are lucky, we have a good chance in weighlifting as russia is not there, wrestling we can get , teakwando , we can gain few more, shooting if we do well, fencing and volleyball. Discuss throw is a option but i just dont know

I just hope we build on our awesome performance @ London in 2012. We ranked 17th overall in medal count, with 12 medals - almost double our best medal count under that sport-loathing Shah

Ya, I think 50/50 to win gold is a pretty good chance. Tao is always sketchy with his squat jerk technique. He bombed out at worlds. Will be interesting to watch.
