Yes, he has been poor and a shadow of his old himself, thats because of his age and all these years competing at this level. Therefore it shouldnyt have come as a complete surprise that he lost. In the 1 period, when he still had gas, he was superior to the japanese, but in the 2. he purely ran out of gas, which i was afraid of he would do.

no because his fighting/combat weight has always been 55 kgs (the old classification) before they changed it recently in 59 kgs. This is regardless of his actual weight.
Also many wrestling coaches specially Iranians select lower combat weight then wrestlers actual weight, same is for freestyle wrestkers too. So few days before the weighting, the wrestlers go on a special diat to make it to the category and then they have 24 hrs recovery, so by the time they are actually fighting, they have more weight to their advantage.
This however can be tough on a 30 year old when he is not fighting in his usual combat class.
On top of that his opponent was very good and beat him earlier this year.

Overall his performances this year have been embarrassing. You don't need to sugar coat this. I love the guy and I am proud of what he has done for Iran but it is time for him to retire now.
I dont object his retirement, but I object calling this embarrassing, it was not.

That's what I am saying. This guy cant do this at a high level anymore. This isnt the same guy that was destroying everyone from 2005-2014. He was dominant. Now he is no where near that level. I think its time for him to retire. Again, I am not saying he is embarrassing, his career is magnificent. I am saying his recent form is embarassing and it is a clear trend now.

I am sure we are all disappointed. We all wanted to see Sourian come back and reclaim his throne. He has had a magnificent wrestling career. Just looking at Wikipedia and seeing how many gold medals he has won is a sight to behold. I am sure he himself is the most disappointed from this loss. I can't imagine what is going on in his head and if he is thinking of retiring from wrestling I can't imagine the emotions he is experiencing.

Well it wasn't nice to see, expected more from him but still he fought to make it here and if he could get an easier draw, win the first game it would've been different...

Was always going to be a long shot this time round for the reasons given by others. He has had a magnificent career and nothing can take that away from him.

even i knew that Sourian has become old meanwhile, got suprised that he still is participating, hes not really well trained, not even ambtious anymore, he has got to think about retiering ...its over for him, i guess.
