In the last world championships, we did better in freestyle than Greco-Roman. Please don't make ignorant comments about our world-class wrestlers.

They train a few kilos heavier. Its harder in competition after a weight cut

i agree it was heavy, but he would have trained many times in training, i think barari did not have the psychological strenght, if he had got it would have been a bronze, for a medal he should have pushed hard, at least bring it up

Although it is easy to say something, but these athletes train and have records to meet; otherwise, they should have been left in Iran. Coming down to wire to beat 2012 record.

The mistake was not changing the weigth on time, not not attempting the 230 since it would have been useless and a waste of energy anyway.

Barari was suspended for two years before just before this comp.

actually I think it would. A psychological boost to have 230, personal best, and then it would be easier to go for 231. but going like this put a lot of pressure on him.
Again, I say, never let an attempt go intentionally lose, never.

Guys, the 22 year old Georgian recently totalled 463 competitively in the euro weightlifting champagne. How the heck is Salimi recovering from injury (with a very respectable 430 at Fajr after two years out) expected by many Iranians to be the favourite?

I really hope he pulls it out of the bag and gets gold but he has a reconstructed knee, it's never going to be as strong as the original thing. Here's hoping

Well, I don't want to bring anyone's moral down, but many analysts including Iranians count Salimi for Silver behind the Georgian.
If anything its gonna be close and not easy.

Salimi's personal (official) best in C&J was 255 kgs in 2014 Asian Games, but mostly he settles (and sometimes struggles) with 251 kgs. (that is far away from Rezazadeh's 263 kgs...)

In Euro 2016 Talakhzadeh's C&J was 251 kgs. and as you say he is just 22.

So, one has to be prepared that the Georgian might grab Gold tomorrow, but I count on Salimi's experience and pray for GOLD for him!

Btw- if Salimi gets gold, Iran will be men's champion in men weightlifting, which would be historic too....
