The Geordian is the clear favourite. As you say we can hope but a medal would be a good result given that Salimi is still recovering from a serious injury. He is till 26 so with care he can compete again in Tokyo when he should be in his prime.

behdad never lifted c&j more than 255 kgs and struggled with 250, 251 kgs most times even before his injury.

and now he switched his c&j style to power push to protect his knee.... if the georgian goes in 255 territory, he is most likely to grab gold.

Well, I don't want to bring anyone's moral down, but many analysts including Iranians count Salimi for Silver behind the Georgian.
If anything its gonna be close and not easy.
Salimi's personal (official) best in C&J was 255 kgs in 2014 Asian Games, but mostly he settles (and sometimes struggles) with 251 kgs. (that is far away from Rezazadeh's 263 kgs...)
In Euro 2016 Talakhzadeh's C&J was 251 kgs. and as you say he is just 22.
So, one has to be prepared that the Georgian might grab Gold tomorrow, but I count on Salimi's experience and pray for GOLD for him!
Btw- if Salimi gets gold, Iran will be men's champion in men weightlifting, which would be historic too....

The Georgian as everyone has said is far and away the favorite. It is basically a contest for the other medals.

Georgian will win Gold if he does anything like he has in recent competitions. Only way he doesn't is if he bombs out and doesn't get a total. I really hope that happens. Praying that Salimi upsets him and brings home gold. 3 golds would be amazing in weightlifting. It would be historic.
