Can never count out S American teams as witnessed by the Ecuador upset yesterday...

Highly uninspiring game. England played like the old Italy. Very defensive.
But the defense was bullet proof. Or may be Kazemian (or was it Valdez?)
could not deliever. That kid is so much like Kazemian, may be they are
twin brothers separated at birth.

Anyways, England showed they wanted a win and nothing more. Absence of
a good playmaker was obvious for England team. Seems like a very smart
move to keep Roony on the roster. I think the coach was thinking second
round or beyound for when his contribution will be needed the most.

Will have to see how Sweeden does aginst England to get a feel if either one
will go far.

england didnt play a very good game, however i think paraguay played a nice game. they played a very systematic closed game and relied a lot on counters by valdez and santacruz who were not lucky to finish!

the game wasnt very catchy because both teams played a very result oriented closed game.

gerrard seems to have lost his form, owen wasnt of much use either. atleast crouch took part in the tackles and challenges.joe cole was pretty good. beckham didnt do much except for that cross in the 4th minute and a long shot. lampard was acceptable, he took a few good shots which was saved by the paraguay keeper.
