    Iran Basketball National Team

    Hey basketball fans!
The Iranian National Team will hold a training camp in Germany, not sure where. But I know that they will play a game in Luxembourg on the 1st of September against a team of the top division in Luxembourg (who play with 2 americans). They say that Hamed Haddadi will be there too. If someone is interested, the game is in the gym of Bertrange at 20h30 and the entry fee is 5 euros (donation for kids with cancer)! Let me know if you come, I will definetly go as it is 5km from my home!

The team is being renewed essentially.
Now is the time to rebuild. Not 4 months before Asian Championships.

Whatever happened to Arsalan Kazemi? Dude was picked in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft by the 76ers a couple years ago, but nothing heard from him since. He was supposed to be the backbone of the new team.

he destroyed himself! he should have tried to stay in the D-League for at least a season. But no, he was too good for a D-League!

very long story but you can read the old threads. The team that picked him had his rights in US for 3years, so he couldnt sign with anyone else. They sent him overseas and basically put him on ice for later. After 2 years he demanded to get signed or released, but sixers took way too long and basically released him when it was close to preseason. At that point he was free to sign with anyone, but the problem was majority of teams had a full roster already, they didnt have any open spots. He got a couple of shots with hawks and rockets but they didnt need him since it was so close to the season. He didnt get his chances to play many minutes and they released him too. Rockets gave him an option to stay in D-league with them and get a shot later but Kazemi didnt want to do that. Mainly cuz of money, they pay very little like 30K/year....so he was stuck with no team. Then he got a call from an Iranian team, he went there with hopes to come back in the summer but thanks to sarbazi issues he is now stuck there til its resolved. Its safe to say his chances of NBA are done...he's 26 and doubt many teams would wanna invest him if he is released from sarbazi next year when he's 27
truly a shame what happened but mainly it was sixers who screwed him over

The D-League can work wonders for some players trying to kickstart their careers, so Arsalan shouldn't think he's better than that. I mean sure the pay isn't amazing but is it not more than Sanat Naft Esfahan or whoever the heck he'd play for in Iran? Just sayin'.

Iran not qualifying for Rio in men's basketball was also a massive missed opportunity to showcase his talents to int'l scouts.

He is still verified and occasionally posting on Twitter, @kazemiworld. Yesterday he retweeted this article: http://www.fiba.com/asia/challenge/2...-balanced-crew

^^it is a combination of factors, poor planning, time of the day, type of sport, marketing, ticket prices etc....

compare that to volleyball, they market it well, they play well, the game are televised etc....
