Second best Olympics in Iran's history in terms of medals (after London 2012).
Best weightlifting Olympics with 2 Gold.
First Gold in Freestyle Wrestling after 16 years.
One of the best Freestyle Wrestling olympics overall for Iran.
First female athlete to win a medal for Iran.

I am very satisfied and proud of our athletes!

^^I do not think anyone will argue with that. I think we can be much greater and we can all see it but it is frustrating when because of incompetency or lack of training the results are not achieved.

Don't forget corruption and cheating ... you cannot legislate for that!

yess freestyle and weighlifting did good but overall we were poor, teakwando was extremly poor!greco was just a mess!and other sports made no effort what so ever, we gain medals, but we did not made effort in other sports, like we didnt care, except fencing which i truly believe he deserved a min of silver, could have goten a bronze als

well, it's hard for countries like Iran to increase their medal count when your have sports like track and field and swimming handing out medals like there is no tomorrow

Considering we have the islamic republic as our government which invests zero in sports and everything in Syria, Iraq, Palestina, Hezbollah etc. And still finished 25th in the overall ranking, i´d say Iran did pretty good! I don´t know which planet you live in though.

^^ perfectly said. But I think next Olympics will be Iran's best. Yazdani. Kimia. Farzan should all get gold. They'll be in their prime and weightlifting we will always win a couple at least. We need new blood in wrestling in general

It's about expansion. Next Olympics I hope to see more athletes in different sports.

1988 was supposed to be in Iran planned since Shah time, but due to Iraq war, Iran withdrew and it went to Seoul instead...!

It was Ok but could have been much better.

I was very disappointed by the volleyball team that lost all their matches except against 2 minnows. And we were lucky we weren't drawn in the other group with Brazil, Italy, France, USA, etc..

It was 1984. They had to re-do the vote after Tehran withdrew and it went to LA.
