I hate the term Amateur Wrestling, its mostly used in US to avoid confusion with the fake WWF, that they call Professional wrestling

"Olympic Wrestling" as its called world wide, is the much more better term in my opinion.

Back to topic though Well Done Iran...There is a long way to go to get to the level of London 2012 at Greco, but that's a good start.

Iran secured the team title in Greco , we will have two more wrestlers in the final later today and Saman Abdevali for bronze which is enough to win the team title.

Asian Championship is usually a 2nd rate tournament but this year I see Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China are bringing their Olympic wrestlers. Iran's results are good here and this is not our complete team, they are sending some of our top guys to the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku starting tomorrow. (in freestyle they are sending the whole A team to Baku)

so far I'm glad with our performance in Greco under the new coach Ali Ashkani, still too early to judge, World Championship in Paris is the real test.

I just watched Saman Abdevali and Ali Arsalan lossed matches.

Both were unlucky and even a little bit robbed, but greco rules are unclear and change oftenly in addition to being very stupid and unattractive for fans at the same time.
Both were leading the match before giving points on counter attacks from opponents while holding the "khak" position and attempting to do "barandaz" (turns), the problem is that for a same situation of counter attack they gave points in 1 match while they didn't give in another one, to be honest I don't remember when they should give or not based on latest update of rules.

Apparently, now you can get 1 point if you counter a turn attempt from your opponent (while both wrestlers are on the ground) but taking advantage from an attack of your opponent on standing position means the end of the action as the wrestler should have the initiative to follow the wrestling on the ground.
However for this rules we have seen 2 different officiating in both matches. Also Abdevali's rival got 2 points for an imaginary turn.

Both are talented but showed inexperience in crucial moments, giving easy points while attacking is a terrible mistake in greco wrestling.
We can expect good results from them in upcomming tournaments as both are young.

About other wrestlers, Taheri won another gold, this kid is really talented but what a pitty that they always use other guys instead of him on international level.
We can also expect good results from him, specially at 80kg but he should focus on an olympic weight. Maybe 85 as none of those guys impressed in recent years.
