not just a PB. but a new national record and only 0.01 second slower than the Asian record.
6.51 is probably enough for a world medal if he can repeat that in the world indoor championship next month.

You expected him to not race in his own country ? his only chance to compete in an international competition in front of his parents/family etc.

that was his opening competition for the season . even Mutaz Barshim . the best male athlete of the year of 2017 participated in this event in Tehran.

I have to correct this, he is no longer 0.01 away from the Asian Record because a Chinese guy just broke it !

Taftian's record is still 5th best result of the year.

No, I expect him to perform more in international tournaments. Since last Olympics, we just hear about him for his asian games performance (where the competition is not high)

Taftian finished 5th in the world which is a great result. with 6.53, only 0.02 behind his own record. he had some problems with UK visa and made it to the comptition only last night. I consider this a great result. top 3 was out of reach but he could finish 4th

3 Asians in top 5 in the world.

Nice to see this fake turk and Arab nations don’t succeed with their naturalized athletes
