Abbasali lost in final was one of the most stupidest one I ever seen.
She did nothing during the whole 2 minutes, and lost by decision (Hantei) as match ended 0-0.
Her rival had 2 or 3 attacks, even though it wasn't productive also.

While World Champion Ganjzadeh lost another time to his nemesis from Japan. Another very disputed match.

However Zabi Poursheib broke his losing streak in important tournaments against world champion Araga. As always the match was very very tied between the 2, but for once Poursheib was luckier. This guy has been in NT for 8 years now but he always misses something in order to win big championships, last year he was robbed against this same Araga in world championship semifinal. He also finished 2 times as 5th in world championships.

In this sport competition is very disputed, and nothing is granted. Double world champion Mehdizadeh lost earlier his final against Azeri Karateka because he just lost during 1s his concentration.

Its a lovely result, all of our Karatakas got into the final.
Obviously more Gold than Silver is always desirable, but I see it as it is all positive. It all looks good for the 2020 Olympics. I expect 1-2 medals in 2020.

well we are still waiting for IOC/WKF to publish the qualification method but based on their proposal it will be VERY hard to qualify more than one karateka per gender. there will be one kata event and 3 kumitee weights per gender. we can't qualify in Kata, our chance is in 6 kumittee events and our other ladies beside Abbasali are not consistently good to qualify.

          Thanks.
I hope we manage to bag one medal in Karate at its inauguration tournament in Olympics 2020. Would be great.

I learn a lot from your posts on Iran in martial arts sports. Very useful.
Out of curiosity, are you practicing any martial arts yourself?

PS: I myself did full contact in the Austrian Army long time ago, and when I was young like every Iranian kid casual friendly wrestling that's all.
A lil bit lifting, that caused my fingers to be very fatty and a nightmare to type on my phone lol and now I am doing some resistance training and indoor spin cycling as my normal sports routine.
Gotta slow down at my age, but passion for sports doesn't let me....

LOL not really, not my thing, I used to play volleyball/basketball because of my height.

            I follow almost every sports

btw just for info, Karate is not a core sport at the Olympic program, per IOC new rules, host nation can add few sports to the events and Japan did that for Karate and 4 more sports. and since Paris will host the next Olympics in 2024, I believe France will add Karate once again.
