On another side, Komeil Ghasemi is present with the team even though he won't compete.
Officials were told to not reveal the reason before saturday.

Earlier in the week, French wrestler Szepaniak received his medal from 2008 Olympics because of the disqualification of a Russian wrestler after the retesting process of samples, which revealed a lot of doping cases on Eastern European wrestlers, weightlifters, athletes for 2008 and 2012 OG.

Since Iranian officials are spreading tracts containing Komeil Ghasemi picture with his 2012 medal, and since Gold medallist Taymazov from Uzbekistan has already been stripped of his 2008 gold medal because of dopping, it is possible that Komeil will see his bronze medal turned into a silver medal.

That's great, I never heard anything about that, which is a rare things when it come to Iranian sports lol

as far as I remember Taymazov only tested positive for his 2008 medal (feel sorry for Masoumi who finisehd 5th that year but was in other side of the draw and won't benefit from that ), I never heard anything about him losing his 2012 medal but that would be a very good news for Komeil.

now they are at it, can they just disqualify Taymazov from his 2004 medal too ? lol, he beat our Rezaei in the final.

The article about Komeil's surprising presence is in iawf website.
The nature of his presence is just my guess, and as Taymazov retests of 2012 have not been subject to any info, it may not been what I told.
But it's strange that they are spreading tracts with komeil's picture of 2012 with his medal in Paris streets and inside Bercy.
We will find out the story on Saturday.

btw we received the 1st day freestyle draw. have to see our guys were not lucky at all

57; Atri's draw is a bit better but he is probably the weakest member of the team, his first round opponent fro France won't be easy but if he passes this round, next will be USA, the same guy beat Atri at World Juniors. if he wins next will be Azerbaijan and PRK/KAZ waiting for him in the semis. it could be worse, much worse but still Atri is not the favorite to win a medal but I have to say he has a shot. if we had Rahimi, he could be top favorite for the gold easily

61; 61kg this year is very tough and we knew there is no easy draw this year but Ehsanpour was unlucky from the 1st round. first is PRK, Ehsanpour beat this year in Asian Champs final in last seconds in a very close match, if he wins, next will be Cuba, that guy is really tough. Rahimi pins him in Rio at 57kg but this is his real weight, he had to cut a lot to wrestle at 57 in Rio . next will be Niyazbekov , Ehsanpour's archrival ! and then probably Haji Aliyev in the semis, this is a very tough road ahead of Ehsanpour to the final . not impossible but I don't think so.

86; Yazdan is the bad draw in this weight, after beating two decent opponents, he will face Azerbaijan in 3rd round and then Yasar (TUR) or Valiev (RUS) in the semis. I don't thnk any of them can challenge Yazdani unless he makes a mistake, to me the only dangerous wrestle for him is Cox (USA) who wlil make it to the final easily from the other side of the draw.

125; very tough draw for the debutant Mohebbi, 1st round against Modzmanashvili (2012 Olympic silver medalist from GEO now representing UZB) next wll be Zaseev (UKR) former world medalist if he wins these two matches, 3rd round will be a bit easier with USA or HUN, but if he loses to any of these guys , no way they can go to the final to put him back in repechage because there is Akgul waiting for them in semifinal. I think bronze is not out of reach for Mohebbi, his serious challenge is Zaseev in 2nd round

What a breath of fresh air Hassan Yazdani is to watch. Only other persons in our history with such beautiful wrestling were Habibi in freestyle and Sourian in Greco.

Amazing 2 games from Mohebi against world and Olympic medalists. I completely expected it after watching his great matches against Komeil.
