I'm kind of suprised nobody started a thread on this.

1-0 Portugal. Who could have thought?

Despite receiving the one goal Angola's defense was very good. And their attacks put some pressure on Portugal.

Playing them wont be as easy as (I for one) previously thought.

Angola definitely looks like they've sorted out a lot of the problems that were clear during the African Cup. It's still a stretch that they got to represent Africa at the World Cup, but they no longer look like one of the worst 2 or 3 teams in the competition.

On the other hand, I'm still very worried about how badly Togo will affect Africa's rep at the World Cup.

Rather surprising result by Angola. Kudos to them in giving Portugal a hard time and the 4th minute goal by Pauleta, probably during Angola still organising themselves, was the only one of the match. It seems that Angola can give Mexico a hard time as well. Maybe Fabrice Akwa can score against Mexico

That implies Iran can miraculously beat Portugal on the same date too

just a small correction, angola-mexico game is on 16th june, iran-portugal on 17th. so its not on the same day

For some reason I found this game OK, not great but not really dreadful. Maybe it's because other games were even worse...Portugal played very bad obviously but Angola put in a great effort. But the difference in class was shown with this final score. Portugal did not sweat too much to take a win against an inexperienced new World Cup team. Ze Kalango gave a really good game for Angola, and the keeper also deserves compliments. Hard to believe he's a free player at the moment.
