anyway, I am very proud of Iran’s performance at this year’s championships.
We got 2 world champs, 1 Silver medalist, and 2 Bronze medalists in Total! 2 world records!
and lots of medals in snatch and C&J.

ALIHOSSEINI was for me the highlight beside MORADI’s World Records!

I AM VERY PROUD OF OUR BOYS!!! WELL DONE GUYS!!!

    PS: FUCK THE JURY!

      Salimi’s press-out was more noticeable than Siem’s.

You have to put most of the blame on Salimi as well, because he is infamous for these Press-outs so the judges are more aware of it.

BTW, that was so disgusting by the Iranian fans booing and completely disrespecting the other lifters, as they were protesting Salimi’s decision. It definitely distracted the other lifter going after him.

Here are the overall results and rankings. I haven't seen the total points yet, but don't think we won the team championship, but we did amazing in the medal tables, considering we had ZERO women lifters.

        ....
        29, Mongolia 0 GOLD 0 SILVER 1 BRONZE

        Team Iran:
        medal winners:
Kianoush Rostami SILVER in 85 kgs Snatch.
Ayoub Mousavian BRONZE in 94 kgs C&J
Ayoub Mousavian BRONZE in 94 kgs TOTAL (Big Medal).
Sohrab Moradi GOLD in 94 kgs Snatch
Sohrab Moradi GOLD in 94 kgs C&J WORLD RECORD!
Sohrab Moradi GOLD in 94 kgs TOTAL (Big Medal) WORLD RECORD!
Ali Hashemi GOLD in 105 kgs Snatch
Ali Hashemi BRONZE in 105 kgs C&J
Ali Hashemi GOLD in 105 kgs TOTAL (Big Medal).
Saeid Alihosseini BRONZE in 105+ kgs Snatch
Behdad Salimi SILVER in 105+ kgs Snatch
Saeid Alihosseini BRONZE in 105+ kgs C&J
Behdad Salimi BRONZE in 105+ kgs TOTAL
Saeid Alihosseini SILVER in 105+ kgs TOTAL
        World Champions:
        Sohrab Moradi 94 kgs
        Ali Hashemi 105 kgs

        interesting observation:
Sohrab Moradi lifted in 94 kgs category, in all three disciplines (snatch, C&J and Total) more weights than the entire 105 kgs category. LOL he should be awarded world championship in 105 kgs too .

        my personal tournament highlights:
        - Sohrab Moradi: of course the C&J World Record 233 kgs that also made the Total World Record!
        - Ali Hashemi moved one category up to 105 kgs and wins the championship. Wise, if he would be in 94 kgs with the weights he lifted in 105 kgs (all lower than Moradi), he would Vice World Champ
        - Saeid Alhosseini: fantastic, I am soo happy for him. Unfairly banned by International Weightlifting Federation for 12 years, only after 8 years to realize that his ban was unjustified and allowed him to compete, he comes back from 8 years unfair absence and saves his snatch in the last lift after 2 failed attempts to get Bronze, and then goes on and win the SILVER in total. THIS WAS WEIGHTLIFTING HISTORY!

THIS TEAM DESERVES A BIG THANKS!

WELL DONE BACHEHA!!!! DAMETUN GARM! KHODA GHOVAT!

Does anyone know where the Iranian team is staying or which hotel ??

So I can at least go and say goodbye to them

As predicted we got the silver and bronze but I thought Salimi would get the silver and he should have. The Freaking old judge has a personal problem with him. His 251kg lift was clean.

No one is gonna be catching the Georgian lifter anytime soon. He went 6/6 set TWO world records and he did it with ease. Honestly, he could have added another 10-15kgs to his overall total easily. He is just head and shoulders above everyone else but I do wonder maybe he is doping.

Overall it was a good world championship for us. Moradi is a beast and the face of Iranian weightlifting now. Only disappointment was Rostami.

Bad news is that they are implementing new changes to the number of lifters a country can have. Iran will no longer be able to have two lifters in the same weight class. Therefore, we will never see Iran go 1 and 2 on the podium.

We won the team competition by the way so congratulations to everyone.

                  1- Iran (509 points)
                  2- South Korea (454 points)
                  3. Uzbekistan (354 points)

Hopefully the Georgian guy will be caught with doping. I remember in 2012 Olympics, Illya Illin was so unbelievably good that even my family members were supporting him. A few years later his doping was caught and lost his medals and records.

and I remember your post after Rostami’s weights, that we are not gonna make it! see, a lil bit optimism is always good!

People were saying the same about Rezazadeh on his prime days but he "retired" very soon, you never know in this sport. you can't predict the future. Talakhadze was an ordinary weightlifter before his doping ban, he improved A LOT (I mean A LLLLOOOTT) when he came back.

and that 1 weightlifter per weight rule is only for the Olympics, we can still have two per weight in other competitions, in fact they are going to change the weight classes completely, making it 10 (7 of them at the Olympics) and each country can qualify maximum 4 weightlifter for the Olympics, max one in each weight, very bad news for Iran indeed.

Yeah no one can predict the future but the way the Georgian lifted yesterday I don't see anyone beating him soon (unless he is caught doping). It was unbelievably easy for him. I really wont be surprised if he is busted again for doping.

As for the rule changes concerning the number of weightlifters, the crown jewels are always the Olympics. These 4 max weightlifters per gender and no doubles in each weight class is awful for a country especially like Iran. We are already at a disadvantage because we don't use female weightlifters (although that may change soon) and we have historically been good at only the heavier weight classes. We have a wealth of talent at the heavier weights classes compare to the lighter weight classes and this really sucks that we can't any longer have 2 105KG+ lifters at the Olympics so no more chance at multiple Iranian lifters winning medals in the heavy classes.
