    Iran Weightlifting News!

Guys don't worry about Talakhadze anymore ! our weightlifting is officially screwed by Olympic Qualification rules. here is the qualification rule for Tokyo 2020
    http://mssz.hu/wp-content/uploads/20...ghtlifting.pdf

countries could qualify 6 weighlifters for Rio 2016 (we qualified 5) but now they dropped a weight class because of IOC and now with 7 men's classes we have a limit number of maximum 4 weighltifters for country but this is not the worst part !

    Read this

Member Federations which have recorded ten (10) or more but less than twenty (20) violations of the IWF Anti-Doping Policy (IWF ADP) between the start
    date of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games period and the end of the Tokyo 2020 qualification period sanctioned by IWF or Anti-Doping Organisations other than Member Federations, National Olympic Committees or National Anti-Doping Organisations shall be eligible to qualify one (1) additional male and one (1) additional female athlete, altogether a maximum of two (2) male and two (2) female athletes;

guess what, Iran has EXACTLY 10 since 2009 ! which means we can qualify only 2 weightlifters for Tokyo ! so out of Moradi, Rostami, Salimi, Alihosseini, Mohammadpour, Hashemi, Mousavi etc only and only two of them can go to Tokyo !

with only 2 spots available. we probably won't send anybody at +105kg. since the chance for gold medal is so slim.

This is unbelievable. Any sport that the west isn't dominating is getting their quota reduced more and more every olympics.

First they had the gender equality Bullshit and instead of increasing female weights they decrease men's ones to make them equal. Now this new BS law.

I am sure you are aware but they have already done the same thing for Asian games 2018 and a lot of our medal favourite weights in Taekwondo, Boxing etc won't be able to participate.

As its been said before, the Olympics will turn into absolute garbage within the next 20 years. More and more of the classic sports will be ruined for the sake of garbage "sports" that have sponsorship and tv money.

gender equality is a good thing, anyone could agree on this, no one can disagree with this. how come so many countries thought about this so many years ago? iran should have thought about this as well maybe then we would be winning some more medals

There are a few sports in the Olympics where men aren't even allowed to participate let alone have same amount of events. This gender equality is only for political correctness.

Not trying to argue but just curious, which Olympic sports don’t allow men to participate?

Synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics are the ones I know.
Of course I agree that these two are female style sports and don't mind one bit not having men compete in them, the same way I think that some other sports doesn't have to reduce their male categories to follow the PC trend.

I also knew about those stupid changes in Asian Games program weeks before the official announcement. tried to contact our stupid NOC . telling them they have to protest about it right now when it's not too late. but as usual they didn't even answer. I even tried them by phone and not just email.

The biggest losers in this are Russia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. With over 20 doping offence from 2008 to now, they can only take 1 male + 1 female weightlifter.

Now that we will probably have a 2 male + 2 female quota, will Iran’s Weightlifting Federation allow their female weightlifters to qualify for the 2020 Olympics?
