now we know our weightlifting squad for the competition.
first . based on my research OCA changed the weightlifting events and we will have 8 weight classes (instead of 7 in initial program) and each country can send 8 male weightlifters but our federation insists on sending 7. we will find out if I'm correct or not during the competition. since China and Kazakhstan are still banned we have a very good chance this year to dominate the competition. but news coming from the national team is NO GOOD !

this is the squad. they announced 7+1 . with Askari as "reserve"

      69: Majid Askari (reserve)
      85: Ali Makvandi
      94: Sohrab Moradi, Kianoush Rostami
105: Ali Hashemi, Mohammad Reza Barari
      +105: Behdad Salimi, Saeid Alihosseini

as you can Mister Kianoush Rostami ruined our chance here by moving up to 94kg. he was a sure gold in 85kg but he moved up weight without telling the national team coach (as you know he is training separately) he will lose to Moradi for sure but I expect him to bomb out trying to compete with Moradi and not even winning a silver medal ! according to the coach, Saeid Alihosseini is also not in a good shape and even Salimi didn't have great records in last training. so I guess only 94kg gold is guaranteed for us. even though we still have a chance to win all 4 gold medals from 85 to +105.

      -------------

on other news. all of a sudden the sport ministry told the Volleyball Federation to send the "A team" to the Asian Games to make sure winning the gold medal. but they have a problem because they already registered a list of 40 players to the organizers and adding new names won't be easy. so if the organizers accept this we will ahve our A team in Jakarta only few days before the World Championships. personally I have no idea if this is good or bad.

obviously its bad news for volleyball. no way they can recover in time for world champs. whats that like atleast 7-8 matches in short time and lots of travel.

salimi just lifted 450kg in total although i saw his clean and jerk and it was a bad technical lift it was obvious he was under sick pressure.

          Draw for team sports

          Football:
Group F: DPR Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Myanmar
We have 6 groups of 4 teams, top 2 + 4 best 3rd teams advance, tough group but we will make it to the top 16 !

          Basketball
Group B: Iran, Philippines, Syria, United Arab Emirates.
we will advance alongside the Philippines, we will face TPE. JPN or QAT in quarterfinal.

          Water Polo
Group A: Kazakhstan, Singapore, South Korea, Iran
I wonder how many teams advance, 2 or 4, we still have a good chance to make it to the semifinal. we will play China for bronze most probably.

          Volleyball
          Group B: Iran, Pakistan, Mongolia.
with 6 groups, I don't know the format but this group won't cause problem for our A team.

          Handball
          Group A: Qatar, Iran, Malaysia
Iran and Qatar are already in the next round, if we can't beat Qatar we will be grouped with Bahrain and Korea in next round.

          Sepaktakraw
Quad event: Group B: Singapore, Nepal, Iran, Vietnam, Pakistan
Team Regu event: Group B: Indonesia, India, Iran
This is a good chance for Iran to medal in both events. to win a medal you only have to be in top 2 of your group and advance to the semifinal. in Quad event we will beat PAK and NEP most probably. we have to beat either Singapore or Vietnam for a medal which is not impossible but our best chance is in Team Regu. we only have to beat India ! that will be a 50-50 match.

Looking forward to our football team. We haven't played for three years due to that ban. First time we have had a South American coach i hope we can finish third in the group at least.

Also there are bunch of men around 40s and 50s that play volleyball after office in a park in my area and they swear a lot This has raised my interest in the sport

Why do they say IR Iran in every sporting event ? We also have IR in our full name but we don't use it everywhere . Is it something in the law ?

It is done deliberately to distinguish it from Iraq. Many countries always mistake Iran for Iraq and vice versa.

The whitesupremacist Western Liberal who is so proud of his/her Wild West Culture and education has zero geographical knowledge. In western countries they think every Muslim country is Arabic speaking.

To all these western countries Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia are Arab speaking

Although East Asian, Eastern European and Latin Americans also make mistake between Iran and Iraq.

I encountered an Argentine on the internet while discussing possible World Cup in Arab World and he said " What about Iran they are one of the successful footballing Arabs " when i said they aren't Arab he said.

"Any country that has a desert and has mainly Muslim population is an Arab one for me "

Last time Indonesia hosted this thing we lost the bid for hosting just by one vote.

What should i be surprised about ?

That we lost by one vote or we put forward a bid.

A Redraw will be held for mens football after two more teams are added.

Same format but now two groups will have five teams

Indonesian football fans damaged a stadium which is supposed to host Asian Games (and was renovated for it); over 300 seats ripped from the stands and thrown over the pitch during a local match.

This is not an accurate assessment. Where I live, most Mexicans tend to mistake Iran with Iraq, while the majority of non-hispanic whites are fully aware of the geographical distinction. I am convinced the lack of name recognition is primarily due to IR's seclutionist policies and limiting its diplomatic relations with many western countries for 38 years!

Our football team has been playing practise matches against Bahraini top division clubs and they played well. Two wins out of three. The team is off to Turkey now.

First time we've had a South American coach (Brazilian) and i always thought South American coaches can do better with Asian sides like us were people and players want goals and rough tackles.

                                And our New kit is
