now we know our wrestling freestyle squad for the Asian Games
57 Reza Atri (or Mehran Rezazadeh)
65 Mehran Nassiri
74 Mostafa Hosseinkhani
86 Hassan Yazdani
97 Alireza Karimi
125 Parviz Hadi
the only surprise was Karimi. he never wrestled at this weight. but they made him move up weight because all 97kg wrestlers were very disappointing.
unfortunately I expect only 2 (and max 3) gold medals. Yazdani will win the gold for sure. beside him I think Hadi has the best chance. then Karimi or Hosseinkhani. I highly doubt we can win the gold in first two weights. even though Mehran Nassiri beat the current Asian Champion in a tournament in Turkey last weekend.

Iran Greco-Roman wrestling team for the Asian Games
60 Mehrdad Mardani
67 Mohammad Reza Geraei
77 Mohammad Ali Geraei
87 Hossein Nouri
97 Ali Akbar Heidari
130 Behnam Mehdizadeh
Very disappointed with 97kg pick. they brought Aliyari out of retirement and he did good in Georgia. and now they say he is going to the Worlds !
I think only Nouri is the clear favorite for the gold. there is chance for the rest . Mardani is really good but this weight in Asia is really tough. almost the same level at the Worlds.
Reza Geraei is good but still young and makes stupid mistakes. and the current World Champion is Korean. his brother Mohammad Ali is one of the favorites but Korea has a very great wrestler in this weight. who just beat Geraei few days ago narrowly. so there is a chance here. Heidari is a terrible wrestler but 97kg is pretty weak in Asia which means there is a chance for him too. I would send Aliyari here. and at 120 Mehdizadeh was very very bad recently but still they picked him. because he had some very good results against Asian wrestlers recently. his main opponent is Tinaliyev from Kazakhstan. Mehdizadeh beat him last time but in Superheavyweight without so much action refs usually decide the winner.
in general I expect 1 or 2 gold medals here. more than 2 will be a great result.

first . based on my research OCA changed the weightlifting events and we will have 8 weight classes (instead of 7 in initial program) and each country can send 8 male weightlifters but our federation insists on sending 7. we will find out if I'm correct or not during the competition.

this is shame they didn't accept their mistake. and they didn't say someone else helped them to find out. instead they just blamed the organizers and of course Iranian stupid/weak media will never find out and just repeat the lie from the federation.

Kimia Alizadeh who was supposed to be our flagbearer in the Games will miss the 2018 Asian Games due to an injury. they will send "Melika Mirhosseini" instead.
on paper it sounds like a big blow for Iran but in reality she was in terrible shape after her injury and her chance wasn't really good. Mirhossini won the Korean Open few days ago and probably can win a bronze or something which was the most I was expecting from Kimia.
I wonder if she still travels to Indonesia to carry the flag or they will change the flagbearer too. back in 2010 Asian Games. Samad Nikkhah Bahrami despite being injured was still our flagbearer.

I tried to contact somebody in Weightlifting federation to correct them but since it failed I contacted Majid Askari himself (who was supposed to be number 8 guy and would miss the competition) I gave him the document and he told me he will talk to his coaches , even though he never responded me again and never thanked me LOL but today our stupid WL federation announced that they will send 8 weightlifters to Jakarta . funny that they are blaming the Indonesian organizers and they say they found it out just by randomly looking at the official website !!! which is a big big lie. the organizers sent official documents about changes to them, they just didn't read it. this is their job they are not doing it right but a random person like me could find it without even accessing to the official documents or direct contact to OCA.

Thank you for your efforts. Iranian media is an embarrassment. All they do is focus on gossiping and false rumors as if they're a bunch of 12 year old girls.

btw today they made it official the number of athletes per sport. Iran will send 378 athletes (280 men, 98 women) Here is the link
https://media.farsnews.com/media/Upl...00192_Test.pdf
there are so many new sports here. so the word "debut" doesn't really work here . the only "old sport" that we are making our debut here is "Triathlon" even though we are very weak and our lone athlete here won't get a good result here
some interesting notes.
* This is for the first time that Iran is sending athletes in Eventing and Dressage in Equestrian. in past we only had riders in Jumping.
* Squash and Tennis are back after 20 years ! but a very weird decision in Squash is to send only 2 men (and 3 women) which means we can't participate in men's team event. that was our only chance for medal ! (Iran won a bronze in Asian Champs this year even though in a weaker field) in Tennis I will be surprised if our players even win a single match here.
* We will have female fencers after 44 years ! and actually they have a pretty good chance for bronze medal in team Sabre.
* Only in two sports we are sending more female athletes ! Squash (which I alreayd talked about) and Wushu ! only because our Wushu federation decided to not send anybody in men's taolu.

he claims he found out the truth himself (which is not true) and he talked to the federation a month ago (exactly when I contacted him) they ignored him at the time and after a month now they are telling him to go to Jakarta and he believes he has no chance for medal.
to me this is a lame excuse. as a professional athletes how come he gave up training ?! he was in reserve list (in case anybody gets injured) and injuries are always VERY possible in weightlifting. beside that we will have World Championship later this year. even because of that he had to take his training seriously .
also I gave him official documents and enough proofs. that was his mistake he didn't push the federation for that. I assume he didn't believe me that much and he couldn't read the English documents himself.
what pisses me off is that the WL federation is getting away with this, they made a big big mistake. and our stupid media didn't even notice that. for example the organizers made a last minute change in Cycling federation but at least those who work in Iran Cycling Federation actually read their emails and they know the organizers added "Madison" event to the Track Cycling program which is a medal chance for Iran.
