To his defence he helped out A LOT adter the earthquake

It's his life though and he is seeking his limits, I guess thats true sportsmanship - he doesn't owe anyone anything and is probably not doing it for money.

btw i'm more upset with Abbasali's defeat; she was leading 1-0 until the last 10 seconds and even 1-1 was enough for her ... I hope at least Ganjzadeh wins the final he is huge huge favorite for that .
Yeah I saw that... It was at the same time as the weightlifting... She was up 1-0 with like 20 seconds and lost... got pretty upset

The announcer was surprised at Rostami's weight selection for C&J and I can see why. By the way when he talked about Kourush Bagheri, is he the same guy who broke his wrist in the Sydney 2000 olympic games?

that's Shahin Nasirinia and actually he didn't break anything, he just faked injury to go out of the competition. that was an order from the mafia boss of IWF. long story

Kourosh Bagheri finished 4th in the same competition. he was our coach for 2012 Olympics when we got our best ever results in Weightlifting. later the same idiot Rostami alongside Salimi made a mafia group and made him to resign.

Wow really? very interesting... thanks for the info... I guess nothing surprises me coming from Iran. By the way do you remember what was the big idea with Behdad Salimi crying yrs ago on TV? Apparently he was about to break Rezazadeh's record or something and he was not allowed or something to that effect...

oh no. that was just rumor from some kids. how come Rezazadeh can prevented him from breaking the record ?! beside that he broke Rezazadeh's record in 2013 Worlds in Paris.

Salimi and his gang had problems with the coach (K. Bagheri) and they did everything to replace him and they finally managed to do that.

today was the most disappointing day of the competition for me, even though we won 2 golds and 1 bronze but that was the least I was expecting from today. Moradi's gold was 100% and Ganjzadeh had no serious opponent mostly because Japan didn't enter here. (there are 5 kummitee and 1 kata event for each gender. total of 6 but each country could enter 4 athletes per gender, that's why Japan had no entry here.)

Rostami's elimination was expected, I think I predicted that few times here. but still hard to believe someone can be this stupid and selfish. he doesn't care about silver ? fine then let someone else tries his chance for the silver. we had the current World Silver medalist (Ayoub Mousavi) who had to sit home because of Rostami's selfishness.
Abbasali was our best chance for the gold in women's karate. this is sad because she had the lead until last seconds.
both of our shot putters were disastrous , with their normal records they could easily win silver and bronze. I still can't believe their result. even Taftian didn't shine in his heats. even though we can judge him better tomorrow.
both of our beach volleyball teams are out in quarterfinal. even though our B team took Qatar to the 3rd set and lost narrowly. Qatar is probably the top favorite for the gold here.
Ju-jitsu was disastrous once again. they were all out before the quarterfinal.
Elnaz Rekabi missed the final in sport climbing by the narrowest margin possible. she was tied for 6th place with the Japanese and lost the tie breaker criteria.
our Equestrian Torabi (who was supposed to be a medal chance) had problem with his horse and had to withdraw after the cross-country
even our basketball team was terrible, they beat Syria but they were far from convincing. and they don't have enough time to improve. the next game is QF for them. which is probably easy because Japan is not complete here. but I don't think chance for the gold for this team.
and in pencak silat. we sent 9 athletes and all of them but one lost before the semifinal and even that one remaining athelte will win her medal because her only opponent withdrew ! so she is going to win a bronze for doing nothing.

the positive thing from today was Water Polo. they dominated Singapore. they still have to beat Korea to avoid China and Japan in QF.
3x3 basketball team also looked very good today. they will play Chinese Taipei in Quarterfinal tomorrow. they believe they have a chance for medal.

                      Iranians in action for Sunday

Archery: we have knockout round in men's and women team compound. we are 4th seed in both events , I expect them both to reach the semifinal where they have to face South Korea. I think both of will go to the bronze medal match which will be held another day.
Athletics: we have 3 athletes tomorrow, Malekpour in 400m Hurdles, he broke the national record recently still his record is far from Asia bests. we have Reza Moghaddam in hammer throw, with 3 very good throwers in the competition there is no chance for him. we also have Taftian in semifinal (and final if he makes it) to be honest I don't think he has a chance for medal. even going to the final will be tough for him. but I hope for a surprise.
Basketball 3x3: tomorrow is the last day of 3x3 competition. with 8 teams remaining we will have QF, SF and final. all of them tomorrow. our girls team will play China I think this will be the end of the road for them but our boys team will play Chinese Taipei and if they win China in semifinal. I hope for a medal in the men's side. there is no clear favorite here.
Boxing: Sajjad Kazemzadeh vs Japan in 1/8 finals. hard to predict but I think Kazemzadeh is slightly favorite.
Handball: 5th place against Saudi Arabia
Jujitsu: we have 4 more fighters in last day of Jujitsu competition. I don't think we should expect anything here.
Karate: we have 3 athletes in Karate tomorrow, interestingly there is no Japan in their events ! Taravat Khaksar in women's 55kg. her draw is OK if I read the table correctly . she has two easy fights before the semifinal. Amir Mehdizadeh's draw also looks very good. also there is no Japan in this weight and the Uzbek guy who beat Mehdizadeh before is in other side of the draw. draw from Rozita Alipour is a bit tougher, she has to beat Korea and Kazakhstan but she is favorite against both of them. I expect medal from all 3 of them but Mehdizadeh's chance is better for gold.
Pencak Silat: we have one remaining athletes in this sport. she will lose tomorrow in semifinal and will win a lucky bronze.
Sailing: few more rounds for our sailors. no chance
Shooting: second day of skeet competition. no chance they are already far beyond
Table Tennis: start of team competition. our women's team will play China, Qatar and India. and men's team will play Kyrgyzstan and Japan. no chance for the women's team but our men's team will most probably advance from this group to the quarterfinal.
Volleyball: first knockout match for our volleyball vs China. since this is China B. I think there should be no problem, if Iran wins they will go directly to the semifinal. while other teams have to play one more round.
Water Polo: important match vs Korea. we have to win this to avoid China and Japan in quarterfinal. South Korea lost by only 7 goals to Kazakhstan, I wonder if Kazakhstan is not that good or Korea is better than expectations.
Weightlifting: 105kg, we have two weightlifters, Barari and Hashemi. based on entries there will be 5 athletes battling for 3 medals. the main favorite is Olympic Champion Nurudinov from Uzbekistan but since he didn't participate anywhere after Rio we are not sure about his current shape. I expect one medal at very least but I hope for two. and even gold medal is not hard to reach.

in short. Amir Mehdizadeh is our best chance for gold tomorrow, so far we never had a day without a gold medal. I hope it doesn't change tomorrow. beside that we have two other good chances in Karate and two more in Weightlifting. also outside chance in Basketball 3x3 and Jujitsu. and maybe Taftian. just maybe. beside that we will win a bronze in Pencak Silat.

                        you are welcome

yes Ehsan Haddadi is here and will win the gold 99%. there is no Asian discus thrower even near his records. after some bad years, he got better results this year and right now he is top 6 in the world once again.

Amir Mehdizadeh got robbed big time in the final against Indonesia, that was terrible.

Taravat Khaksar also settled for silver. so far only 2 silver for today. so I guess we won't win a gold today. I hope I'm wrong
