last time we won gold medal in Archery, Shooting and Rowing. we got much weaker in Archery. thanks to some stupid decisions. but I don't think we got weaker in Rowing and Shooting. in rowing we are much better now , just last time we had a star in Mohsen Shadi. (we still had him this time but he was coming back after 2-3 years of retirement) Iran got some great results in last year Asian Championship. but for some stupid reasons they fired the Romanian coach, the same person went to India and India stole one of our gold medals in Men's quadruple sculls. I believe with some better decisions we could get fantastic results in Rowing. 2 or 3 golds.
and in shooting, we know luck plays a big factor in shooting. sometimes you win and the next day you can finish last in the same competition. we had more shooters in final this time. Sebghatollahi and Sadeghian lost the medal in their last shoots.we won less medals mostly because they removed team events from the competition. but I agree we got slightly weaker in shooting. they changed the rifle team coach a bit late and the Serbian guy didn't have enough time to adjust his style into the team.

Iranians in action for tomorrow
Archery: our mixed compound team will face Singapore in bronze medal match, Iran is strong favorite here.
Athletics: we have Amir Moradi in 800m heats and Hossein Keihani in 3000m steeplechase final. Keihani is the current Asian Champion but we know the level of Asian Games is much higher. still he has a chance for medal.
Basketball: quarterfinal vs Japan. we played terrible against Syria but I think we will play better this time. this incomplete Japan is no match for Iran.
Boxing: we have two boxers in Round of 16. Omid Ahmadi-Safa against North Korea and Shahin Mousavi against Syria. our boxers did well so far. I think they are both slightly favorite for tomorrow.
Cycling Track: we will compete in Team Sprint tomorrow. we used to be a top 3 team in this event but not anymore. I don't think there is a chance for medal.
Equestrian: tomorrow is the first day of Jumping competition. we have a good team but there are so many better teams here. I don't think we have realistic chance for medal but we can judge better after tomorrow.
Karate: we have 3 more athletes in last day of Karate competition. the official website doesn't show the matches in order so it's really hard for me to analyze the bracket. we have Pegah Zangeneh, Bahman Askari and Zabihollah Poursheib. I think Zangeneh at best can win a bronze but both Askari and Poursheib have their chances for the gold. Poursheib has his archrical Araga in the draw, he will face Araga either final or semifinal. I hope at least one of them wins the gold. I expect 2 or 3 medals and hopefully at least one gold.
Speed Climbing: we have "Speed Relay" competition and of course we have chance for medal in both men and women competition. but I see some countries entered 2 teams per gender. our main rivals are Indonesia and China in both events but they have two teams ! even though I believe they put their best climbers in one team and their 2nd team is probably not that strong. our men's team has a star in Reza Alipour but our other climbers (his cousin Mehdi and Ehsan Asrar) are not as good as him. accident happens a lot in relay event. so everything is possible. our women's team also has a chance for a bronze. I hope for a medal tomorrow.
Squash: at the start of team competition, our women's team will play India. no chance.
Table Tennis: our men's team will play Thailand and Maldives tomorrow. today they lost narrowly to Japan. so they have to win both matches to qualify as the 2nd team of the group, if it happens we also have the QF match tomorrow.
Weightlifting: +105kg competition with Behdad Salimi and Saeid Alihosseini , they are expected to finish 1st and 2nd and fortunately they are not stupid like Rostami to bomb out trying to catch his own teammate ! there is an Uzbek guy who was good in the Worlds last year, but still I think Salimi and Alihosseini will finish 1-2. but it's not a sure thing.
in general weightlifting and Karate are sports to watch tomorrow. beside that we only have medal chances in Sport Climbing and athletics, plus our archery team challenging for bronze.

Bahman Askari in the final. and his opponent is no big deal from Saudi Arabia. all of his main opponents are already out. this is his gold to lose.
Pegah Zangeneh also blew away a good chance for gold. she will fight for bronze
both finals in 30 minutes.
----
and with stupid Pencak Silat finals today and tomorrow. Indonesia will win 10 more gold medals and they will be untouchable for 4th place. they already tied Iran with the number of golds. we have to compete with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Thailand for 5th place. don't let the current medal table fool you, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will win lots of gold after Boxing, Sambo, Kurash and Canoeing finals.

watching Zangeneh destroying his good Vietnamese opponent for bronze makes me believe we threw another gold medal away. she was very passive in his first fight and that Kazakh girl went all the way to win the gold. she only beat Zangeneh 0-0 (on Hantei) where the score was 3-2 (means 2 refs gave it to Zangeneh, but 3 to Kazakh)
well deserved gold for Askari. so far 7 out 7 medals in Karate. but I think either Zangeneh or Abbasali should win the gold for the women's team. and of course Mehdizadeh got robbed yesterday.
one word to describe our cycling, pathetic !! not so long ago we were 3rd or 4th in Asia in Team Sprint but now even Indonesia and Kazakhstan are much better than us ! we didn't even send a team in team pursuit as we know how bad we are ! if we finish the cycling competition with no medal. it will be the first time in history !
