    Judo grand slam. Holy crap.

    Am I seeing this correctly?

Did our judo world championship gold medalist Saeid Mollaei just throw a match vs a no-name unranked Kazakh to avoid an Israeli in the next round, but the Israeli lost his match and didn’t even make it to the next round?? Did we just switch strategies to forfeit preemptively even BEFORE a match is certain?? What is wrong with these people???

I still don’t understand why the Palestinians have no problem playing Israelis but Iranians boycott. It makes no sense.

Its a disgusting rule and they need to end it.
F*** the criminals who push for this policy and ruin the sports dreams of so many young athletes.

That part is wrong. the Israeli guy Muki beat his Belgian opponent few minutes before Mollaei's match and Mollaei would face him in semifinal . but he lost intentionally. and won the bronze through repechage. Israeli guy beat that nobody Kazakh guy but lost the final and won the silver.

this is 3rd time this season Mollaei throwing a match to avoid Muki. Mollaei is World Champion and World Rank #1 but this Israeli guy is a top 8 athlete and unfortunately this won't be end for him and Mollaei. Mollaei will get that guy once again in other tournaments. since there is no hope they change this super stupid suicide policy. I just hope Mollaei gets lucky in the draw and someone beat this guy in early rounds. specially because Mollaei is an Olympic gold medal chance.

no he faked injury right after winning his bronze medal match and "apparently" they had to take him to the hospital ! even during the medal ceremony they announced "unfortunately Mollaei is on his way to the hospital and could not attend the medal ceremony"

PS: Mollaei destroyed Khalmurzaev of Russia in bronze medal match. this guy is the Olympic Champion who beat and eliminated Mollaei in Rio just by one stupid Shido. that was kind of a revenge for Saeid. he also beat 2017 World Champion from Germany in 3rd Round. he was on fire and could win the gold easily.

There is no hard evidence about that. everybody knows the truth but they prefer to ignore it because he just lost a match. it's different than that wrestling match where everybody was shouting "you have to lose" for Alireza Karimi to lose to avoid Israel. that was evidence.

but I'm afraid this will happen again, this Israeli guy is the European Champion. he is not going anywhere. and if it happens again and again, IJF (international judo federation) finally will take actions against him. losing to Kazakh guy was OK , nobody can blame him for just "losing" but then continuing the competition winning the bronze and then faking injury and not going to the podium was very obvious. Judo has much more media attention than Wrestling I believe if it happens one more time the whole world will know about that. international federations they all know this policy but they only take action when it comes to media attention. otherwise they prefer to just ignore it.

watching his match vs Kazakhstan was really painful for me. he didn't even raise his head. he was staring to the Tatami the whole time and let that shitty guy throw him in less than 20 seconds. he was almost crying. he is not just a random athlete. right now he is the best in the world in his weight.

Absolutely disgusting. According to an Iranian coach who was there when this happened Saeid was sobbing because of this. Screw IR

Now everybody knows. here is from Twitter Q&A session with IJF president Marius Vizer

@twoods250: #AskVizer Hi, what is your opinion of world number one Saeid Mollaei of Iran losing on purpose to world 209 Ruslan Mussayev to avoid a match against Israel’s Sagi Muki. This appears to be the third time Mollaei has done this in recent tournaments.

@MariusVizer: We will seriously analyse the case because it's not easy to explain from the methodological point of view how the athlete lost the contest. It's a very complex situation. TBH, a part of the sport impact sometimes in the life you have to consider a lot of different aspects. The risk and the precaution for the family members and himself. The contradiction between the wish of our athletes and the system where he belongs. As well you know well that as an individual to break a system, especially in his country, it's nearly impossible. From a sport and fairness POV, we will soon analyse the situation being convinced to find the fairest solution. #AskVizer

@twoods250: Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. All the best with this tricky situation

@MariusVizer: You're welcome. We have solved in the past a lot of difficult situations which a lot of sports are confronted with. I hope to do the same in this case #AskVizer

the guy asking the question is a BBC journalist

it's hard to understand what's IJF is going to do from Vizer's answer. I wish Mollaei wouldn't continue the competition to win the bronze. even though everybody knows he lost intentionally but now it's hard to ignore that even for IJF.

looks like Vizer thinks someone is going to kill Mollaei and his family in Iran if he competes with an Israeli ! LOL but maybe that's better for Mollaei if they think that way. I don't know what kind of solution they are thinking about. there are only two ways to deal with this. 1) just ignore it. 2) ban the athlete or the entire Iranian team. there is no 3rd option. IR is not going to change this policy for a sport like Judo.

We are heading toward another disaster like that

both Mollaei and that Israeli guy Muki reached the World Championship semifinal which will be held in 2 hours. no surprise since they are World Rank 1 and 2.

When are the semi finals and where did you get the results?

Don't tell me that he lost the game because of the Isareili guy again!!! I watched the semi-final and was wondering why he was so weak.
