Originally posted by _Navid_ View PostThanks for the video. As he tells Rostampour, he was forced to lose and lost on purpose which is what I expected.
this is funny people think he is kind of unbeatable Champion, and whenever he loses that's intentional, he is indeed a great athlete and he is world #1 deservingly but there are only 3 gold medals in his whole career, yeah he lost in 2 or 3 tournaments intentionally but for example he never won the Asian title. I assume there is no Israel in Asia. beside that nobody is unbeatable in Judo (maybe except Teddy Riner)
why he followed the order ? after all he left Iran, wasn't it more beautiful to win the world title for Iran (and beat the Israeli) before leaving the country for good ? I'm sure that was his plan.
and in this interview he says something like the Belgian Casse was nothing for him. but he didn't say he lost to that guy before. he is 2-1 against this guy (actually 2-2 but one of his defeats was intentional in Abu Dhabi and I don't count that)
he had plans for this for a long time, not only because of Israel. mostly because he hates the current Iran Judo federation president. he bashed Miresmaeili in TV after the Asian Games, and few months later Miresmaeili became the federation president.
this is his interview in April
https://www.tasnimnews.com/fa/news/1...8C%D8%B1%D9%85
somewhere he says
I'm following this guy since 2014 Asian Games, where he impressed me a lot despite not winning a medal. and I watched "every single match of him" since that day. I know him and his style probably better than himself and his coach, I can notice when he is trying and when he is not trying. of course he was under lots of pressure and that justifies his "not so good" performance but he tried his best for the win in the semifinal.
I understand his decision, and nobody can blame him for that , the whole boycotting Israel is stupid and only hurting our own athletes, but I blame him for lying, and he will probably add few more things to the story to satisfy people like Rostampour. he talks about being worried about his family, so what ? he stopped caring about them now ? his family still lives in Iran, only his wife is German.
back to the original story, IJF will suspend Iran Judo federation for sure and even if they don't do that I'm almost sure Iran won't participate in Judo competition for a while. for few years probably. IR will punish the whole Iranian judo community because of this. that will be the only outcome of this story. nothing will change. only Judo will die in Iran. Problem solved, everybody goes home happy.

and from IR point of view, he had to lose, they couldn't risk winning the SF and waiting for Egyptian Judoka to beat Israel (and actually the Egyptian guy was very close to do that, probably needed only 30-40 more seconds)
but I read the Iranian coach said somewhere the IJF changed the order of semifinals for that reason, they had plans for Mollaei/Israel or something. but that's not true. they changed the order for the whole tournament. the bottom table semifinal went first. probably because the loser of second semifinal had to fight the winner of first repechage for the bronze. they changed the order to make it even and give more recovery time to the second semifinal loser

the ioc must do something, they must either ban the iran judo federation from olympics or ban the whole iran federation, or make iranian atheletes fight isrealis. i think like a 2 olympic ban the 2020 and 2024 olympics and all the asian championship, world championships, iran must be banned than this actions would stop

Good news guys, some of you can be happy now
https://www.ijf.org/news/show/the-tr...fight-for-life
with the way IJF wrote that article, I'm sure there will be long suspensions awaiting our sport, and probably not only for the Judo federation. I would like to know your reaction if that includes football TM too.
this policy never changes as long as IR exists so until that day (which won't be anytime soon unfortunately) I would like to see our athletes in international competitions. I guess that's better than "not participating at all"

It is such a disgrace! Khorasan has been absent in wrestling (senior team) for some years. However most of Judokas in Iran's team are from Khorasan. If Jouybar in Mazandaran is where many wrestlers are grabbing spots in the wrestling team, it is Chenaran in Khorasan where Judokas are grabbing spots in the Judo Team. Until some years ago, Chenaran was considered a suburb of Mashhad, nowadays it is called Shahrestan-e Chenaran.
Chenaran just like Quchan (Ghoochan), Shirvan, Bojnord, Nardin, Esfarayen and some other Northern Khorasan towns are inhabited by people of Kurmanj Kurdish ancestry. Their ancestors were Chamashgazeg Kurdish tribes who were brought by Shah Abbas Safavi to protect Khorasan's borders and prevent the region being attacked by Turkmens and Uzbeks.
https://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/%DA%86...AF%D8%B2%DA%A9
Shadilu Tribe (based in Bojnord) and Zafaranlu (based in Quchan) were powerful tribes whose chiefs were semi-independent rulers and played important role in Khorasan's affairs during the Qajar period.
Most Wrestlers and Judokas from the region are trained in Chookheh-Wrestling since Childhood.
I really hope Iran will follow Afghanistan in allowing athletes to face Israelis. Iranian people who hammer the current sport policy instead of aggressively opposing it should bring "Afghanistan" into the topic and use them as an example of a country who does not recognize Israel but in sport allows athletes to face Israelis.Last edited by Rooyintan; 09-05-2019, 05:31 PM.

I don't want to continue this discussion but I just can't stand liars and unfortunately Mollaei turned out to be one of them.
here is a long interview with him after the World Champs, this is a long interview but somewhere he says he also lost in China masters intentionally
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYukfhhDvyI
it was interesting for me because I didn't know of such things, so I checked the draw, Mollaei had Japan in the first round and then Israel or Belgium (yeah the same Belgian guy) in the 2nd round. Mollaei lost to Japan (and next ISR lost to BEL) I know it was after Mollaei's match but at the time there was no pressure on Iran and Mollaei's plan was to win his match and wait for the next match, obviously he had to withdraw in case of Israel's win (which didn't happen)
since I have a curious mind and I don't believe what I hear without searching myself, I found the video of that match and obviously he tried hard. almost beat the Japanese but got caught on counter attacks, if you see the video his coach is giving him technical advises during the match (what's the point if he is supposed to lose ?) and they were even protesting for the final call which was dubious.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdia45LlTnA
---------------------------
The truth is he lost twice to avoid Israel. once in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (where he faked injury) and once in Paris Grand Slam (which was very obvious and caught everybody's attention) he was supposed to lose here in Tokyo too but he didn't follow the orders, went for the win but failed. but from now on he can't hide his defeats under IR's stupid self-destructive policy. but if we are going to believe him, based on his interview he is going to win every single gold medal in all tournaments until Tokyo 2020.
I don't care about Judo anymore, this is a lost cause.

last year Rasoul Khadem tried hard and contacted some high rank officials about changing this policy, he got some minor supports at first but when Khamenei himself said no, that shut up everybody. they even changed their own words, something like "who said we want to face Israel, no way, we just want our government to talk policy with IOC and find a solution" which is funny because there is no solution for this. the only solution is facing Israel.
I believe there is no solution here, as long as IR exists. they are not going to give up on IOC's pressure. you never can be so sure about the future but I'm almost sure about this one. I lost hope long time ago.

Iran was suspended from international competition by the International Judo Federation (IJF) on Wednesday for putting pressure on one of its fighters to withdraw from the world judo championships to avoid having to face an Israeli opponent.
The Iran Judo Federation was hit with a “protective suspension from all competitions, administrative and social activities organised or authorized by the IJF and its unions” until a final decision is issued by the IJF’s disciplinary arm.
Iran has 21 days to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the IJF said in a statement on its website https://www.ijf.org/news/show/iran-j...tion-suspended.
The IJF said Iran judoka Saeid Mollaei, the 2018 world champion, was pressured by Iranian authorities to drop out of his quarter- and semi-final at last month’s world championships in Tokyo to avoid a potential final with Israel’s Sagi Muki.
Mollaei, who is in hiding in Germany, has refused to return to Iran over fears for his safety after ignoring the orders from the country’s National Olympic Committee and government.
The IJF said Iran‘s actions constituted “a serious breach and gross violation” of the governing body’s principles and the Olympic Charter.
“The IJF Executive Committee considered that such conduct is intolerable (and) has decided to initiate a disciplinary procedure against the Iran Judo Federation,” the IJF added.
In Tehran, the head of the Iran Judo Federation, Arash Miresmaeili, called the IJF decision “very hasty and unfair”, the state news agency IRNA reported.
This is not the first time athletes from Arab nations or Iran have been ordered to pull out or refused to compete with Israeli athletes at the Olympics or other international competitions.
Since its Islamic Revolution in 1979 Iran has refused to recognise Israel as a country and the two have been arch-enemies for decades.
At the 2004 Athens Olympics, then-Iranian world champion Miresmaeili refused to fight Israeli judoka Ehud Vaks, earning praise back home.
At the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016, Egyptian judoka Islam El Shehaby was sent home after refusing to shake the hand of Israeli Or Sasson following the end of their bout.
The IJF’s Disciplinary Commission said on Wednesday that Mollaei was also ordered to withdraw from competing at the 2019 Paris Grand Slam to avoid having to face an Israeli athlete.
“The Commission has a strong reason to believe that the Iran Judo Federation will continue or repeatedly engage in misconduct or commit any other offense against the legitimate interests, principles or objectives of the IJF,” it added.I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.
