We had only one athlete today and Armin Hadipour made it to the semifinal. he also came to Manchester only last night and missed the weight-in but WT let him doing that today morning, still he was in disadvantage because his opponents had this yesterday and had a whole day to recover from weight-in.

Hadipour's semifinal will be against Russia tonight, I really hope Hadipour wins the gold , he is now our best chance with Hosseini gone. but even bronze is a good result for him and almost secures his Olympic spot. he was already good in the ranking and a gold or silver here will make it almost a sure thing.

on other hands, bad news for Mirhashem Hosseini, all of his rivals made it to the semifinal !!! he really needs to participate in remaining Grand Prix tournaments this year and wins almost all of them to qualify.

Has our federation done any sort of legal action or proper complaint to IOC???
If this was done to any other country they would have been all over it.

Iran finished the Taekwondo world championships with 1 silver and 1 bronze in males and 1 silver in females.

The irony is one Iranian won the gold tonight (Milad Beigi) but he was fighting for Azerbaijan.....

Mirhashem Hosseini just won the gold in Rome Grand Prix. beating the legendary Korean athlete Lee Dae-hoon in the final.

he is currently 12th in the ranking and with those 40pts he will climb to 9th place. he is still 50pts away from the qualification. but now this is not impossible anymore. still very tough. he needs 2-3 more gold medals in remaining Grand Prix.

Today was important for our Sabre Fencing team and by winning silver at the Asian Championship they put Iran in a very good position for the Olympic spot. we beat China in SF and we were close to beat the great South Korean team in the final as well. we lost only 45-42.

after 2 events, Korea has 104pts, Iran 84pts, Japan 62 and China 60. we only have to stay ahead of China and Japan to qualify and we are in a very good position. China and Japan now have to make it into top 8 or even top 4 of remaining World Cups to catch up with Iran but that will be really hard for them because they are lower seeds and will get very tough opponents in Round of 16 of every tournaments.

the next tournament is the World Championship. the most important one, if we make it to top 8 we are almost qualified for the Olympics.

                    Very bad news for Iran

Sohrab Moradi got injured once again and it seems he is going to miss the World Championship 95%. I can live with missing the World Champs but by missing that he will also miss the Olympics !

the stupid qualification system requires all weightlifters to participate in 6 events in 18 months period. at least 1 in each 6 months period. and still no result for Moradi in current period (from May till the end of October 2019) I heard that they are thinking about just ending him to the Worlds and making him just lift a very low weight. only to collect some points. that's probably the only solution (and I'm glad they are apparently aware of the situation) he needs at least one result in this period and that can't be a "no mark" . a "no mark" will keep him technically alive but it will be really hard to collect enough points in remaining competitions to get into top 8 in the ranking. and even if he recovers he needs months to get back to his ideal shape and he needs two very big results in the last period.

on another hand, Tian Tao just broke Moradi's CJ World Record in a tournament in Japan last week. Moradi winning gold in Tokyo looks unlikely right now. but first he has to qualify which is now really hard because of his injury.

That is terrible news. One of our few gold chances for 2020.

We had World Fencing Champion in team sabre event today which was the main competition for the Olympic ranking. here is how the Olympic ranking look like after this

                        Korea 232
                        Hungary 192
                        Italy 184
                        Germany 164
                        Russia 146
                        Iran 144
                        USA 138
                        Egypt 121
                        Romania 113
                        France 112
                        Japan 106
                        China 106
                        Canada 96

per rules, top 4 qualify directly and then the best rank team from each continent will join them. Korea is the best team in the world and they just won the world title tonight, they will finish in top 4 for sure. and our current place (as the next best team in Asia) is enough for the qualification. right now we have 38pts advantage over China and Japan. with only 4 World Cups left in the ranking, the only way those two teams can catch Iran in the ranking is to win medal in at least two World Cups. that's almost impossible in real world but still possible on paper.

The big bad Uzbek bear is stripped of his Gold medal in 2012 London Olympics.

Komail Ghasemi of Iran should get the Gold.

That means we should be up to 11th in standings for that Olympics. Remarkable.

Here is another ugly side of Olympic sports.

AUS and ENG swimmers are being sore losers and disrespecting the sport of
swimming and the CHN champ in the current World Championship event going on.
They refused to share the podium or even shake hand with Chinese Sun Yang after
he has defeated in a race and won Gold.

FINA should severely fine both these athletes and their national federations because
of this behavior. Let's see if they take the right and just action.

Now imagine how they would react if some Iranian athlete pulls this kind of stunt.....

This champion has been accused of doping.
