Liberos: Marandi, Salehi
Setters: Marouf, Karimi
Middle blockers: Mousavi, Mojarrad, Gholami
Opposite hitters: Ghafour, Kazemi
Outside hitters: Ebadipour, Salehi, Sharifi
Crossed names: Hazratpour, Vadi, Shafiei, Abedini, Saadat, Ghaemi, Esfandiar, Fayazi, Mirzajanpour
Given our terrible performance in "receiving" during the VNL, Alekno has gone for the unorthodox 2 libero selection. Sad to see Hazratpour and Esfandiar missing out.

He went mad but I can kind of understand him. Poor guy was invited back by the coaches and head of federation after retiring and then crossed out after a few days without even being properly tested.

The coaches didn't have anything to do with it (apparently). It seems Davarzani promised him a spot but Alekno said he wasn't physically fit and crossed him off.
Ghaemi then said there is a mafia in Iranian volleyball - when in reality, if Davarzani was trying to get him a undeserved spot, then its Ghaemi who has the mafia.
Very disappointed in how he reacted. Petty and immature.

True, seems Alekno himself wasn't involved. Some Iranian coaches apparently were.

“I didn’t want to talk about Ghaemi, but now I have to clarify some things. There’s a big difference between us. I’m much older than him. He didn’t win even a small percentage of what I won. And most importantly: I spoke to him face to face, while he decided to speak through the media. When I took over the national team they told me that Ghaemi had retired, but now I was told that he was ready to play: I gladly evaluated him at the very first training session, but it became clear that he wasn’t ready enough to earn a place in the Olympic team. I didn’t see what I wanted, his condition didn’t satisfy me, so right after training, I thanked him and honestly said that there was no point in wasting his time. As for the decisions on the team, from the first day, I make them alone. There are assistants with whom I consult. But I’m not one of those who allow being pressured by the president or anyone. Medium probability: Taekwondo
Low probability: Shooting, Fencing, Boxing

ghaemi was def not good enough to make the team. doesnt matter anyway, team will hopefully make it through the group stage but stand no chance vs the heavy weights

Some other problems:

Prestige of Olympics has suffered a lot. So much doping and manipulation (referees, federations, and naturalization of other nations athletes).

Remember our 2012 athletes getting gold after 4 or 6 years because of other nations doping cases? LOL! We have now 7 golds, instead of 4 in 2012 London. Whats the point? These cheaters had their fun on the podium already. Why not immediately catch these cheaters and award the medals to clean athletes?

In our case, they immediately ban our Karate athlete for Tokyo 2021. Another sign of these anti-Iran activities. Also with the refugee team they suddenly introduce. There is an anti-Iran element in that, also in case of our Judo team being banned all together. Not saying we have had high chances in Judo, but just for the record.

See weightlifting, most (if not almost all) Eastern European/Central Asian/Turkish athletes had doping cases, but few of ours did too. Result? We get also only 2 starting spots like the main cheaters.

It goes on and on.

This would be awesome. If one of our knowledgeable members make this list I will be very appreciative. I really want to know what events I should watch for especially those that Iran has medal chances in.
