Are you saying the International Swimming Federation is so golabi that they allow an active
doping athlete to compete in the World Championship?

The fact is he was cleared and he was allowed to compete and he won. The losers were the UK and AUS
swimmers who could not take the loss. They should be banned for their behavior on the podium.

I bet if this was an Iranian athlete doing it they would take away his medal and ban him for life and you
will be OK with that too
^Mate there is wide-spread corruption in the swimming federation. not only with the chinese. Please do some research. He is still pending a court hearing in september for smashing blood samples in 2018 with a hammer and those swimmers are pissed that his court hearing was mysteriously delayed to after these competition. He will most likely get away with it too.

Not everything is about Iranian, race, arabs, etc. You sound like a butthurt obsessive person. Those swimmers have been warned. They're not making a big deal out of it to avoid media agencies and others making it into a huge deal where corruption could be investigated which is what those swimmers are trying to do. Since you're obsessed with bringing up Iranians getting overly punished and blah blah. When has Iran ever been severely punished by Olympics for purposely forfeiting against Israelis? We're lucky our wrestling/taekwondo feds were not suspended from Olympics and other big competitions.

Thirdly, doping in sports is a massive issue that continues to happen. If you don't understand, please exit this thread and discussion.

    Thank you.

You are trying to justify bad behavior by the other athletes just because there is corruption.

      That is a loser position.

I maintain these athletes should be banned and their medals taken away from them.

They have insulted the sport of Swimming.

      You are welcome

World Taekwondo announced the new world ranking this month. but their ranking isn't 100% the Olympic ranking. because there will be points deduction each month. in some other sports like Judo and Karate they announce two rankings. one for the Olympics and one the usual World ranking. in taekwondo it's just the World Ranking. I had some free time yesterday and calculated this for 58, 68 and +80kg. obviously we have no chance to qualify in other weights.

to make things easier. I only considered one athlete per country. and remember only top 5 (and maybe top 6) qualify for the Olympics. there is only spot left for the "Grand Slam winners" but if that Grand slam winner is among the top 5 in the ranking. that quota goes to the 6th ranked athlete. I can imagine in most weights the grand slam winners will be one of those top 5 athletes.

        58kg:
        Korea 365
        Spain 322
        Russia 303
        Iran (Hadipour) 287
        Italy 217
        Mexico 205
        Thailand 204
        Ireland 197
        Australia 194

Hadipour looks good in 4th place. I think 20-30 more points will make it 100% for him but even his current score is most probably enough for him to stay in top 5.

        68kg:
        Korea 438
        Great Britain 354
        China 312
        Jordan 291
        Spain 258
        Belgium 256
        Croatia 243
        Russia 239
        Chinese Taipei 234
        Iran (Hosseini) 234
        Iran (Ahmadi) 209

        Brazil 205
        * Mirhashem Hosseini is currently 10th but he is only 24pts behind the 5th place. he is our best chance for the gold in Tokyo, he missed lots of points because of what happened in UK World Championship but he came back by winning a GP event and the Universiade. there are still 2 GPs and 1 Final GP left for him. he needs to win the gold "at least" in one of them. two gold medals will make it a sure thing. the Final GP points are doubled though.

        +80kg:
        Russia 544
        South Korea 358
        Great Britain 242
        Germany 231
        Slovenia 225
        Niger 221
        Kazakhstan 204
        Cuba 201
        Azerbaijan 193
        USA 192
        Iran (Mardani) 190
        Jordan 181
        Gabon 170
        Croatia 170
        * Mardani is currently 5th in the WR but by my count he is 11th because of points deduction. (he will lose most of his points he earned in 2016 and 2017) he is something like 30pts behind the qualification. that's quite possible. he only has to win the Final GP for example to qualify. he won such tournaments before but he is inconsistent in general . and his chance doesn't look good.

but there is another chance for Mardani. there is another competition called Grand Slam. he is currently 2nd and only has to rank better than the Korean athlete in the last Grand Slam event to finish in top and qualify. it's something like 50% chance for him.

there is one last qualification tournament in Asia. but that's only open for countries with less than 2 qualified male (or female) athletes. for example if any of these 3 guys fails to qualify we can't send him to the Asian qualifiers. but if two of them fail, we have to pick one and send him to the qualifier.

for the women's team. they didn't even try the ranking. they will only focus on the Asian Qualification tournament to qualify the maximum 2 possible quotas.

Our volleyball team lost the last Olympic qualification match to Russia 3-0 and missed the Olympic spot.

but there is still once more chance left for Iran. "Asian Qualification tournament" which will be held in China in January 2020. top 8 from the Asian Championship in Tehran will qualify for that tournament. but that won't be easy for Iran, because China and Australia and even Korea improved a lot. Australia lost only 3-2 to Italy and China brought both Argentina and Canada to the 5th set.

The ARG, CHN, CAN, FIN was a very weak group and ARG made it.

That group did not make any sense.

CHN was the host so my guess is FIVB wanted CHN to qualify but they failed.

He broke his personal and national record btw!
Long time I didn't hear from him. He is going to run on 200m and in the world championship of Doha in September?

he tied with his own previous record. he had this 10.03 record a year ago in Paris again.

I don't think so, he didn't reach the qualification mark in this event. and I think it's better for him to only focus on 100m.

in past few days we had "World Canoe Sprint Championships" in Hungary, which was the first (and most important) phase of the Olympic qualification. top 6 or 7 (depends on the event) in each event qualified for the Olympics. and after that only 1 spot is available in each event in Asian Championships. I didn't expect a quota here but I was hoping good result from other Asian countries that could open more spots for Asian countries like Iran. but based on the results here we have no chance to qualify, still lots of time left till the Asian event.

here is the summary of our results and other Asian results. lets bare in mind that some Asian countries gave up some events to focus on other events. so maybe in some events this is not really the good way to analyze their strength.

                    Men's events:
                    C1 1000m / Iran 13th
                    Asia: 7-CHN, 20-UZB, 25-TJK
this could be our best chance, unfortunately the Chinese athlete narrowly missed the qualification. so only the gold medalist in Asia can qualify. Rezaei is good but it will be hard for him to beat both China and Uzbekistan (who is a former world champion) for the spot.

                    C2 1000m / Iran did not participate
                    Asia: 1-CHN (Qualified), 13-JPN, 16-UZB, 19-KAZ
We have good canoeists to make a strong pair but they preferred to focus on other events, China won the gold and qualified directly. one more spot left for Asia, it will be really hard for Iran, but not impossible.

                    K1 200m / Iran 35th
                    Asia: 15-KOR, 20-KAZ, 25-THA
                    no chance at all

                    K1 1000m / Iran did not participate
                    Asia: 24-CHN, 30-UZB
I think most Asian countries including Iran decided to focus on K4 event, we can't analyze anything based on this. very slim chance since only the gold medalist qualifies.

                    K2 1000m / Iran did not participate
                    Asia: 21-JPN, 23-TPE
                    same as K1 1000 event.

                    K4 500m / Iran 32nd
                    Asia: 12-JPN (Qualified)
disastrous result. specially because there were supposed to focus on this event !! no more spot available for the Asian Champs. the best Asian team here (Japan) qualified for the Olympics.

                    Women's events:

                    C1 200m and C2 500m and K4 500m / Iran did not participate
I'm not going to waste my time writing about this. we have no chance in women's Canoe. and also Women's K4.

                    K1 200m / Iran 34th
                    Asia: 9-KAZ, 11-CHN, 22-KOR
we didn't use our best athlete here.

                    K1 500m / Iran 33rd
                    Asia: 18-CHN, 25-KAZ
                    same as above

                    K2 500m / Iran 28th
                    Asia: 7-CHN (Qualified), 19-UZB
we have two good female athletes in Kayak, Arezoo Hakimi and Hedieh Kazemi, they decided to team up together and focus on this K2 event, the result was surprisingly disastrous , but we know they are both much better than this. probably they better both focus on their K1 events (200m for Hakimi and 500m for Kazemi) with China qualified directly here, there is a slim chance for Iran to challenge Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for that lone spot.

                    ---------------------------------------------------

we had athletes in this sport in 2012 and 2016 Olympics, but unfortunately this time I'm not optimistic, we have some half chances here and there. mostly in Men's C1 1000 or one of Women's Kayak events. but none of them are more than 20-30 %.

Didn't know he ran 10.03 last year too. I didn't hear about him since the last olympics and some asian events

One more quota for Iran, in shooting

Armina Sadeghian finished 8th in qualification round of Rio World Cup in Women's 10m air rifle and qualified for the final and since 6 out of 8 other finalists were qualified in before events, and 2 spots are available here, therefore she is already qualified for the Olympics before the final, this is our favorite event in shooting and we already had one spot by Najmeh Khedmati.

interesting point, we can't get anymore quota in this event the max number was 2, that means Elaheh Ahmadi can't qualify for the Olympics anymore unless she tries 50m rifle 3 positions which is not her regular event. also I have to say in this sport NOCs receive the quota and not the athletes, so the option is available for Iran to replace the shooters but they usually send the same person to the Olympics.

Mir Hashem Hosseini wins yet another gold at Taekwondo grand prix, this time in Tokyo.

I am really proud of him and what he has done takes incredible amount of will and mental strength.

This guy was on the brick of missing the Olympics after he was unfairly refused a Visa for world championships in Manchester in May 2019, where the most points were awarded for Olympic rankings (120 for Gold) and Hashem fell behind his rivals greatly by not being able to attend that tournament.

This had such an effect on him that he wanted to quit Taekwondo altogether even though he is only 20 !!! But he has come back strong and has won every single tournament since the world champs and with the 40 points he collected today he is very close to securing his Olympic qualifications by finishing top 6 of the rankings.

With the form he is in he one of our top 3 chances for gold in Tokyo next year.
