    - Who is the next supposed star?
    - Can we be a dark horse in the Olympics?
I will have a go at your questions, not that I claim to be knowledgeable.

1-Yes, he has recovered from a terrible injury and had an all right season in Turkish league. He is in the new TM list for nations league preparations.

2-Yes, we have an incoming generation who have already won both 2017 U19 world champs and 2019 U21 world champs. Except one, they are all over 2 metres. Many expect them to do even better than the Marouf-Mousavi-Mahmoudi-Zarif golden generation. A lot of them are 22 and under and are already playing in Europe.

3-Amir Hossein Esfandiar. 22 years old. 2.09 metres. Has already won the MVP of world U19 and U21 world champs that Iran became champion. I think he has the potential to be world's best senior player too.
Bardia Saadat. 18 years old! 2.05 metres. Shone this year in Serbian league. 30 points per game average. Already signed a 3 year contract with Serie A team Modena for next seasons.

4- On our good day we can go on the podium. New coach Alekno is one of the best in the world.

Seems the US Olympic soccer team is afflicted by the same ailment as TM Omid: they just can’t seem to qualify for the Olympics (at least for the past 16 years).

Honduras' second goal was a brilliant poaching move (ala Taremi) due to a poor US GK pass.

To be fair, it was kinda the US B team. Main U-24 players were playing a senior friendly against N. Ireland.

^so they gave up a chance at the Olympics for a friendly against N Ireland? Did the US contract out their football federation to IFF during Spring Break?

Clear case of underestimating their opponents.

A lot of wrestling fans were eagerly waiting for USA's free style qualifiers due to the presence of multiple Olympic gold medal contenders in a couple of weights.

They were two upsets. One was in 74kg, burroughs losing to Dake. Even though Dake had won gold medal in the past 2 worlds so he wasn't without a chance against the older burroughs. Now the main battle will be between Sidakov and Dake for the gold. I hope our own Younes Emami can snatch a bronze or even surprise us further.

The biggest surprise was "mr muscle" J'den Cox missing the 97kg weighting session and being removed from the trials. He was the 2 time world champ who beat Alireza Karimi with ease in world finals. I think he would have beaten Snyder who has dipped in form and even lost with a fall against Mohammadian last year. IMO Cox is the only one who stood a chance against the "Russian tank" Abdulrashid Sadulaev to win the gold. Now let's hope Mohammadian can get the Olympic quota this week and get a silver or bronze in the Olympics.

He has been unbanned. I think he visits the forums and will grace us with his presence close to the games.

He was never banned. He left the forum on his own.

Nevertheless, I hope he comes back.

I am pretty sure he was after his last post in the politics thread, but could have been on his own request.
                        I hope so too.

thx for info. Love to get more regular updates on wrestling. IMO, nobody really stands chance against sadulaev though lol. Guy is just impeccable.

Besides Yazdani who is again gold medal favorite, who do you think are our best bets for medaling this time?

You are welcome dadash. Me too. I always wished we had a platform like PDFC for our other sports like wrestling and volleyball to have updates and discussions. Something like TheMat forum the Americans have.

Haha I agree about Sadulaev. Since that incredible match in world finals in 2017 that Snyder beat him 6-5 the guy hasn't put a foot wrong and destroyed every opponent. Certainly the best pound to pound wrestler in the world by a mile.

Yazdani is certainly our top gold medal favourite. The only scare is David Taylor who has beaten him in their 2 previous encounters. Hasan must make sure he has a plan to preserve his energy for 6 minutes for that match, and he can win it. Taylor is not like his other opponents where he can attack non-stop to finish the game in the first 3 minutes. After him, my bet is on Ali Geraei our 77kg Greco wrestler. He is incredibly technical and on his good day can even win the gold. His weight category is also not the most difficult. We also have a 20 years old freestyle heavyweight Amir Hossein Zare who has shown great potentials and even beaten Petriashvili the best in this weight last year. He has to beat the favourites Akgül and Petriashvili on his way to win a gold.

But keep in mind we have only qualified 6 out of 12 quotas so we need to win the remaining quotas first before better predictions.

We have already qualified in the following weights through finishing top 5 in 2019 world champs. Please note that the quota is for the weight and not for the athlete so in a couple of cases the person going to Tokyo could change.

                              Reza Atri (Men's Freestyle 57kg)
                              Hassan Yazdani (Men's Freestyle 86kg)
                              Yadollah Mohebbi (Men's Freestyle 125kg)

                              Alireza Nejati (Men's Greco-Roman 60kg)
                              Mohammad Ali Geraei (Men's Greco-Roman 77kg)
                              Amir Ghasemi-Monjazi (Men's Greco-Roman 130kg)

To gain the remaining quotas there are two chances remaining. Asian qualifiers which is the easier path and the finalists of each weight will qualify. It will happen this week in Kazakstan. Greco matches Friday 9th of April and Freestyle Sunday 11th of April. I will share a link here if they broadcast it. If we fail there is a final world qualifying where everyone who hasn't qualified yet will battle it out.

We are sending these guys for the qualifiers this week:

Greco: Mohammad Reza Geraei (67kg), Hossein Nouri (87kg), Mohammad Hadi Saravi (97kg).
Freestyle: Amir Mohammad Yazdani (65kg), Younes Emami (74kg), Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian (97kg).

Apart from Freestyle 65kg which is a very competitive weight and we are sending a very young wrestler, I expect the others who are mostly world medallists to win the quota if there is no screw up.
