1. Olympic qualification
2. European Championship
3. World Cup
4. Nations League
and I have to say most European countries have the same priority. specially those qualified for the World Cup (Italy, Russia, Poland) also Olympic qualifiers are very important for them, because for example if we fail, we still have the Asian Qualifier which is much easier, but European countries have to fight each other for just one remaining quota, so they will do everything to qualify here and not leave everything for the last tournament in Europe.

just to have a better idea
in Olympic qualification, we have 6 groups of 4. only the group winner qualifies. after that we will have one more tournament for each continent. with one spot available
for example. Poland and France are in the same group. one of them won't qualify
Italy and Serbia are also in the same group . one of them will fail.
and you can add other tough teams like Slovenia, Bulgaria, Germany, Netherlands and etc to the list. they all will battle for just one last spot. because of that top European teams want to qualify in the first tournament because they know the European tournament will be really tough.

World Ranking really matters in volleyball. there is no draw for most of volleyball tournaments. they use a serpantine system to determine the groups. for example we are 8th in WR. if we were 7th we would be in the same group with Canada for the Olympic qualification. much much easier than our current opponent Russia.

Here's hoping we can beat Poland in both Nations League and World Cup this year.

I loved the bit where kolakovic told the boys in the huddle , "dont feel so much pressure about referee, just play your game". He is a calming influence for sure, and after that players calmed down as well and took the next two sets.
Urmia was a fantastic atmosphere.
Good win and tabrik to all.
