Bloody hell! I remember when he was only 21 and made the choice of Pakistan over England (he had grown up with the England youth teams). It was in the papers, then he debuted for Pakistan a year later.
When I first saw him (think he was 20) I thought he was immense but his career trajectory didn't quite hit the early promise.
Only 24 caps for Pakistan... says it all really (Regarding Pakistan's commitment to football).
Hes a strong advocate of South Asian players choosing their country of origins over England right from the youth levels as he claims there is racism and biase shown towards Asian players for England duty.
