    I was disappointed by CQ
After a good group stage, he completely got this game wrong. Hes actually lucky Chile isnt as good as they used to be otherwise he would have lost in regulation. Actually both Chile goals would have stood pre-VAR era. They were way too close to call without VAR. They failed to create any real chances on Chile's goal and they never had any control. He subbed in Duvan way too late...when he should have started and Falcao was really bad too

Sadly this is the 3rd straight disappointing exit from a continental cup by CQ....2015 Asian cup we lost to Iraq in that disaster game...then this year 2019 that Japan disaster and now this for Colombia. He starts all these tournaments super strong, smashing through group stage, only to crash out without a good fight. Im starting to realize he's more of a coach to help a low level team get some structure and come up....lets say a small African side...so he can help them do well in qualifiers and make world cups. Otherwise i feel like he doesnt have it in him to take a team far in tournaments and the Iran imporvements we saw were very minimal despite him being around 8yrs. I will always love and adore him but he hits a ceiling after a certain point.

harsh. He had the team for maybe 10-12 days in total of training sessions before starting the tournament.

Maybe so but pattern is the same. Why does he do so well at beginning then completely crashes when it matters most? Even our 2 world cups, we barely scored a real goal in those 6 games

dont act foolish. We barely scored in 2014 because our team was garbage. Especially offensively. Go look at the players. The very fact we were in with a chance of advancing going into the last game is an achievement in and of itself. And even then, we made a plethora of great chances vs argentina.

In russia we made good chances. Vs Morocco sardar 1v1, karim 1v1 that he decided to square to nobody. Vs. Spain Karim shot into side netting, saeid goal, taremi inches from connecting into open net, and taremis header. Vs Portugal Taremi again, saeid header, ghoddos shot, etc.

Sure we didnt make an overwhelming amount of chances ( we were playing teams MUCH MUCH stronger than us on paper and on the pitch as well), but you cant expect CQ to go on the pitch and score for the players as well? At one point does it become th fault of the players. He put them in a position to advance. Out of all the chances I just mentioned, only ONE hit the target. That ratio is simply not good enough, and CQ is not at fault for that.

As for Colombia, they started well vs Chile, but were really lacklustre in the second half. But given CQ had the team for such a short amount of time, and the praise he was getting after the group stage from the colombian press ("we have never seen our team this controlled and organized"), I think its fair to say they still believe he is the right guy.

Yes we lost badly against japan, but CQ is not responsible for the players randomly stopping to go argue with the referee when he didnt even blow his whistle. Even in that match, we had chances in the first half.

Your current viewpoint of TM underachieving is the hallmark of CQs success. He brought TM to a point where we have iranians actually thinking that we should be beating and scoring freely against Argentina, Spain, Portugal, etc. Before we couldnt even beat bahrain. The reality is he got is to a point where we were highly competitive vs these teams and unlucky not to win. You speak of Spain and portugal like they are khoone be khoone and shahrdariye gonbad, get a grip.

So a Colombian player once again gets a death threat for wasting the penalty kick. Back in 1994 US World Cup, the Colombian player who scored an won goal, thus resulting in their World Cup exit, was mysteriously shot to death.

I have come to realize that we’re not the only nation with football spectators only shouting throughout the whole match. South American spectators are worse. Not a single chant.

Argentina has slightly been the better side so far in the first 15 minutes of the match

The Brazilians are going down and grabbing their feet anytime Argentina players go in for a tackle. What a pathetic bunch of individuals.

Argentina going back to the Sampaoli strategy of playing Messi inexplicably deep and having every single attack go through him. They do look a lot more solid defensively tbf, Brazil have created nexto to nothing bar the goal.
