Everytime there are one or two teams that have importance in the region miss out and everytime there is a debutante at the WC since 98 and we might see teams on the big stage after a while like Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Peru at the last world cup.

If Iran goes out in the first round then that place will up there for either of Jordan, Syria, Iraq or Bahrain to grab. Thailand is good but them qualifying will be a real surprise.

US will miss out again if they stay like this, they lost to Canada.

Burkina Faso might be the debutante from Africa, especially with the play off format it's more likely.

Venezuela is the best of all these teams but South America is a tough zone, they might have a chance if Argentina or Chile have some slip ups on the way.

Europe seems to me will be a straight forward affair, if there is a tough group or two then some regular from the last few World Cups Switzerland might miss out.
