Other than Iran I support Brazil in soccer tournaments. I initially was an Italy (and specifically Dino Zoff) supporter following their 1982 World Cup win but once I bought soccer cards with team info and World Cup points on it I realized Brazil had the best record and thus I gradually gravitated towards Brazil. I'm not sure when the full switch happened but by the next World Cup (1986) they had my full support.

My friend who was born in Britain was a hardcore Esteghlal, England and Brazil fan, he introduced me to Football. So I became Persepolis and West Germany fan
I don't know as a kid I always heard good things about Germany, how Germans were friendly towards Iran while British, Americans and Russians (Soviets) were enemies of Iran. Also at that time West Germany had many good players in top European clubs such as Matthaus, Voller, Klinsmann, Riedle, Schumacher and many others. I liked the uniform too.
After West Germany, I liked teams such as Brazil, Spain, USSR and wow that Cameroon team was so good too. Later on I continued supporting Spain, Brazil and Russia. But Spain became my favorite 1998 onwards however still liked Germany too. Since last World Cup Belgium has been my favorite now. When it comes to African teams be it Cameroon, Nigeria or Ghana I support them too.

I liked to have Iran in my hand just to look at the team photo, other wise it was a useless card unless win against a strong card by using Goals Conceded (8 goals) against let's say Brazil (56 goals) what a great win it was

For me it was all about the 2 players I loved when I started watching football. Started supporting Perspolis and TM because of Ali Daei and Germany, Bayern and Tottenham because of Jurgen Klinsmann. Never changed my teams and never will till I die, like a loyal football fan.
And man I loved those cards. Spent half of my days playing with those as a child. I probably have a set of every one of those cards that they sold in Iran.

Also up until 1978 Tunisia was the best card to have regarding goals conceded (2) but after the 1982 World Cup Cameroon was best with only 1 goal conceded. Honduras had 2.

I followed Romario briefly... liked PSV when he played for them, then Barca when he moved there.

Beckenbauer retired from Germany National team in 1976 I think, and also moved to New York Cosmos in 1977.CHECK OUT OUR FORUM RULES HERE: http://www.persianfootball.com/forums/faq.php

I was a fan of West Germany in 1980s because I used to watch a lot of Bundesliga matches on TV and was familiar with a number of their players. Their team often did better than expected in tournaments without being dominant and that somewhat fit with my own personality. West Germany reached 4 World Cup finals between 1974 and 1990 which is remarkable.
