I think Kamran is finished. He has looked awful in his last two tournaments. I don't see him improving unfortunately. Vafaei, the guy who withdrew from the tournament is lobbying for the chance to compete against DT.

Mind you he had weighed in 92KG. I am not aware he did any international tournaments in 2023 due to his injury? Zagreb Open he went up to 97KG and finished 3rd. I do think that he is a bit small for that weight division, but I don’t believe he is washed up. It’s just so messed up that there is no 92KG in the Olympics. Even today he walks through that division easy.
What I love about wrestling is that we have so many wrestlers in each category, the solution to all this is to see who wins out of Azarpira and him at 97kg as well as other wrestlers.
I actually like Kamran and I believe in meritocracy so if he beats his competition then by all means he should go to the Olympics. I just do not believe he has the ability to win an Olympic Gold medal anymore.
Yazdani is on another planet in comparison to everybody else that we have. DT will go down as one of the greatest wrestlers in history and Yazdani goes toe-to-toe with him and loses towards the end when he gasses out and has beaten him once already. Plus, we can be pretty sure that Yazdani is one of the very few wrestlers that is clean.

And finishing 3rd for Iran is not considered good by any stretch of the imagination. We along with Russia and the U.S. are the leaders of the sport.

I don't believe Kamran is better than Yazdani, however if he was our 86kg Olympic representative he would run the table till he got to Taylor. Additionally, just because he cant beat Yazdani, doesnt mean he cant beat Taylor. Styles make matches, and I think Taylor is in Yazdani's head right now.
Having said all that I also believe in meritocracy and believe Kamran has to beat Yazdani in order to be on the Olympic team.

He just doesn't have the frame to carry the weight correctly for 97kg. Also its not like he got teched against Snyder. His first loss was 5-0 and the recent one 4-0.

If we sit back and truly analyze, this might be the most stacked generation of wrestlers we ever had. Which is crazy in itself. We have Zare, Kamran, Yazdani at the top weight classes. The young guys like Amouzad, Nokhodi and Azaripara are future stars. I think Masloumi would be a household name in the world if it wasn’t for Zare.

I hope Amouzad comes back to his full capacity. He's injured now but his game plan last year against Muszukajev in Belgrade was awful. Nokhodi looked good this time round. I hope he builds on this momentum.

Today they announced the participants for a new camp. Some interesting news. Younes Emami and Mojtaba Goleij were not invited. Apparently Emami and Dabir had a disagreement over how Emami acted when he lost his last match in Iran.
Amouzad was invited to camp, so we can assume he is healthy. Great news. Savadkouhi, only Iranian to beat Jordan Burroughs, is at 86KG now along with Vafaipour.
Ghasempour is still training at 97kg. One interesting fact is that Ghasempour weighed in at only 91Kg for the Zagreb Open. I guess he is going to spend the next few months gaining weight with the hopes of beating Azarpia for the 97 spot.
