Well different sports deserved to be analyzed differently.
For football the issue is very complex. Firstly, even many of our good players that perform super well in youth tournaments lack strong fundamental technique base. This gets exposed as you go up the age ladder to senior level where you have less time and space to perform actions.
Then this issue is compounded by physical component, i.e European, African players especially have excellent physical training from ages 8-21. Once they get to senior level this accumulates and turns into players that almost always meet the standard physically.
Tactically Iranian football is so far behind european football that these technically and physically suboptimal players with plenty of raw talent are unable to carry out many of the instructions required to be successful at the highest levels. On the other hand euro players have been carrying out advanced tactical schemes in a super organized way for 12+ years at different age groups.
Together this creates the gap between say our u17 team being top 8 itw and our u23 team failing to make olympics for 40 years.
For wrestling I dont think our wrestlers have technical deficiencies compared to other countries. If anything they are more technically sound. The nature of the sport is also much more based on fine margins, having an extra 30 seconds in your gas tank, being mentally solid and smart for the entirety of the match, etc. I think biggest issue we have is that our wrestlers all seem to gas a bit early on avg. ITs not a huge fitness issue, but at the very top level it can make the difference between a gold and silver medal at the olympics. Also I think the coaches need to incorporate more long term thinking when picking their teams for certain tournaments, the transition from juniors to seniors needs to be managed and aided very carefully.
I think this physical issue can be taken care of with introduction of some new fitness methods that should be adopted for all age ranges. Whether the issue is diet, training, etc no stone should be left unturned bc it is something that is really in our control and once optimized we would continue the junior dominance and senior level too.

Russia absolutely dominating greco. In the ten total weight classes they have 6 wrestlers in the gold medal match. They already won all 3 of their gold medal matches today and have another 3 gold medal matches left. One of these matches is against our wrestler in the 60kg weight class.
Russia is just head and shoulders above everyone else in wrestling and has been forever. They are consistently dominant in both freestyle and greco.
