Crazy thing is if they had fielded Mohammadipiani we would easily have grabbed 6 golds instead of 5. But then again its good that they prepare up and comers and national contenders.

As much as I love Mohammadali Geraei and firmly believe he also would've taken gold in 82 kgs, Naghousi as for now is the future of the weight class in Iran. And thank God he won gold. Those greco wrestlers from Dezful are not f-cking around.

I also think Danial Sohrabi will get even better when he adjusts to 72 kg weight class. He has had some amount of bad luck/still growing in the sense that he first adjusted and got good at 67 kg. Then he had to move up to 72 and adjust again. In this tournament he really solidified himself in this weight class. If he stays in 72 kg this will be an upward trajectory from here moving forward.

All his opponents were completely chanceless and we are seeing a top contender for the future.

      Zende bad Iran!

People hate Alireza Dabir, but he should be commended for being very competent at his job. Forget about his khaye mali.

          We are greco kings!
The Japanese are much better at freestyle.

True. I still think Iran will win. With usual bs performances in low weight classes where japanese are really good.

We sent the B team. It’s not going to be a cake walk.

Holy shit just took a look. Other than Masoumi they are all average at best...

Any idea on why they field the b team?

My understanding is that the Takhti tournament is more important for our A team. It will determine who goes to World Championships. The youngsters are using the Asian Championship to show who should compete against the big boys in Takhti cup. It actually speaks very high of Iranian wrestling that we don’t even send our best to the Asian Championships lol

Firouspour is a monster at 92kg. Him and Massoumi should be favored for gold. Everyone else is a crap shoot.

I completely agree with firouzpour being a monster. Missed that he will compete.

But correct me if im wrong but he hasnt been THAT tested yet. He started his senior career losing to nurmagomedov in his first year but then beating him with double digits on two occasions. Nurmagomedov is always a top three contender in 92kg so its a good sign.

Also he has been winning in tournaments with guys like Boris Makoev who is on Nurmagomedovs level. So yes he is the real deal.

But he is a little bit untried as of now. If he beat Dauletbekov in semis in same fashion as Kamran and Hasan tomorrow, then we can confirm we have a third boogeyman in 86kg-92kg weight class.

I think this will happen. I think Dauletbekov will curse his fate being in Irans historically most stacked weight tomorrow. But we need a confirmation of our hopes tomorrow.

And as always: zende bad Iran

The guy is stuck behind perhaps our best wrestler, Kamran. He is young and ascending. He lost to Nurmagomedov when he was 20. Problem with wrestling is that we are so deep in some weight categories, but they get overlooked because our main guy at the said weight is a world champ. Masoumi is another guy who falls in that category. He wrecks everyone, but can’t beat Zare. Kamran wrecks everyone, but can’t beat Hassan at 86kg.

First day of freestyle in the books. 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze.

Great first day in FS. We rank #1 in team points, with more FS action tomorrow.

Special shout out to honorary Iranian Arash Yoshida who got Gold in 97kg (Azimi got Bronze).

spot on. we never manage to develop lower weights.

I think firouzpours strength compared to Kamran is his counters. The guy has the most god like counters and scrambles in the world today. Never seen an iranian break down opponents mentalöy the way he dpes.

they go for shots but nothing comes out of it. All his opponents eventually give up at second round.

The down part is that he gives up positions to easily and thus sometimes giving up his legs. The main game plan for opponents has to be to take advantage in par terre. Going for guts and leg laces. Thats the only opportunity they have for a guys that is sp hard taking down.
