Guys, I just met the whole team at frankfurt airport on their way back. All
Of them: Yazdani, Golij, Ghasempour, Zare, Amouzad Khalili

Wow, just wow. They were so humble and down to earth. Bit starstruck right now haha.

Baumgartner was few years younger than Soleimani. Soleimani won his gold at 34. In that time heavy weights could have wrestled up to mid 30s even, as there was not much action going and fights used to end 2-1 , 3-1

Soleimani in middle, Askari Mohammadian(57kg) on the right and Majid Torkan(52 kg)on left. I met both Torkan and Askari few times.

The picture was taken after Swiss world champ, where Soleimani won gold, Askari won silver and Torkan bronze.

Askari Mohammadian was probably the luckiest Iranian wrestler. he got two Olympics silver and one world silver. But to be honest he wasn't that good, and he was known to get the easy draws all time.
In 1988 Olympics, he got really easy draw up to final, and in final he met the russian legendary wrestler, Sergei Beloglazov, with 8 world and Olympics medal, he was so happy to be in final that when he lost to Beloglazov, he took him on his shoulder o dor eftekhaar zad lol
Despite the silver, he heavily got criticized when he returned to Iran because of his gesture.

The new coach is a genious. he is teaching elbow controling as a defence from getting underhooked. This alongside the instructions in that kadre fanni video made all the difference vs Taylor. You can notice how the coach is trying to warn Taylor during their fight too. Gesturing for Taylor to be cautious of elbows.

On a side note: I have high hopes regarding Amouzad because he works the elbows of opponents good (his dragging of opponents elbows reminds me of tsabolov). Mentioned it in an earlier post. I kind of exaggerated saying only better ellbow controlling and awareness can win iranians championships by increasing the technical repertoire. Seems like it was a deciding factor. It was this amongst other adjustments that allowed him to put increasing forward pressure without gassing.

Iranians are the masters of underhooks ofc. But increasing elbow awareness will allow us to punish ossetian wrestlers in the future. I think if we find the adequate talent, the person will give top guys like Sidakov a living hell in the future.

GR matchups are out. Seems like one of the wrestlers may have an Israeli opponent in the second round. Wish they would let them just compete.

Geraei looked as if he is bored on the Mat. Vlasov easily beat him....also Geraei didnt shake hands afterwards(maybe because he tought Vlasov hit him in the eye...even if...definately not intentionally imo). Really didnt like what i saw from him today. Hope his Brother does is better.
