Khiabani had a good rant at vezarate varzesh today asking why a place like Jooybar with all of its medals has no decent athletic facilities.

Yazdani voted to represent the Athletes’ Commission

The wrestlers were voted onto the commission by their fellow athletes at the 2021 Senior World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway. The Athletes' Commission was established in 2013 with the role of protecting the rights and interests of all United World Wrestling Olympic style athletes. The Athletes' Commission members reach out and communicate with active athletes as peers to collect feedback.

Clueless americans are downplaying Yazdani and also trying to figure out iranian underhooks. Also talking smack about Yaz is just good at handfighting and underhooks which some ppl are not equating to good wrestling technique. Ie only folkstyle-fooling and snakepitting hugfest is considered wrestling. Then the thread takes a turn as the clueless americans trying to figure out the underhooks. Same underhook style (iranian style) that both iranians and americans on that forum downplayed as outdated pre-Oslo. Taylor is done as a competitor to Yazdani for good reasons and they can't get over it.

The funniest part is they are looking at when Meisam Nassiri lost in Rio 16. As if Meisam Nassiri isnt irans weakest wrestler.

Kind of funny reading all stupid shit and laughing at those fools. lol.

I have several very close friends who wrestled collegiately in the US. I assure you these AMERICANS are very well aware of our wrestling skills and prowess. A lot of respect given. Looking at a message board for objective views on anything is futile.

^not to mention the mad respect form the US wrestlers themselves. Game recognize game.

Where did I write that ALL americans are clueless? You're reading too much into the post. Im just gloating that's all.

Eventhough the general sentiment is what you write, which I agree on, there has been alot of shit talking about iranian style the last couple of years.

Great news guys! A.M Yazdani is moving up a weight!

Judging from Oslo 21 he had tremendous problems keeping a low stance and kept giving up his legs from time to time. Being taller than competitors even makes iranian style problematic whereas you need to have a greater distance to opponents in order to not give up the legs. These factors have increased his crazy scorelines these couples of years.

The guy needs to put on muscle, train intense to fitness wise to be able to lower his stance etc.

Apart from the horrible final in Oslo, we may see a completely different AM Yazdani moving forward.

Biggest question for me is what happens with Ghassempour.

He was the star in oslo. He deserves place at olympics, but even 92 looked hard for him physically. His real place is 86kg, but unfortunately there is yaz there.

Is it possible for ghassempour to go up? OR is it better to send goleij at 97 who imo would surely medal.

Only other potential option is dropping Yazdani to his old 76kg and leaving kamran at 86. Dont think that would happen though.

He is way too small for 97 kg imho

I think unfortunately they will have them both compete at 86 (1st place) /92 (2nd place). Thing is the iranian schedule is kind of messed up. Asian games means alot to authorities and the federation. Many times they have the best wrestlers competing at asian games (not asian champs) making it harder to compete at worlds if at all. With both Ghassempour and Yazdani at roughly the same weight class this problem will dissappear.

Another upside is that if any of them become injured we will have a stable replacement. Iranian wrestlers injure themselves ALOT.

Belgrade GR Preview: RWF, Iran Bring Strong Teams for U23 Worlds

Amin MIRZAZADEH (IRI) was preparing for the Senior World Championships last month when he contracted the COVID-19 virus and had to withdraw from Iran's Greco-Roman team.

A month after the senior team won second place in the team title race in Oslo, Iran, led by Tokyo Olympian Mirzazadeh, will look to replicate and even improve that position at the U23 World Championships which begin November 1, 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Mirzazadeh finished fifth at the Tokyo Olympics after losing to Riza KAYAALP (TUR) in the bronze medal bout. Still, the former senior Asian champion at 130kg would like to win his second world title after winning the junior worlds 2019. In his only outing at the U23 level, he finished fifth at the 2017 World Championships.

However, there is no certainty for Mirzazadeh as the Russian Wrestling Federation is bringing a loaded roster to Belgrade. First, he could face Mikhail LAPTEV (RWF) who won the U23 European title in May. Laptev has been on the heels of Sergei SEMENOV (RWF) in the Greco-Roman team.

Another name that Mirzazadeh has to look out for is David OVASAPYAN (ARM). The Iranian wrestled him for the 2018 junior world gold and won that bout. But the Armenian made it to the final of the U23 Euros earlier this year.

Three-time age-group world medalist Sajan BHANWALA (IND), who finished fifth at U23 Worlds in 2019, will also look to find a place on the podium this year. However, former junior world champion Amin KAVIYANINEJAD (IRI) will not be a pushover as he won a bronze medal at the 2021 senior Asian Championships in Almaty.

The first day can also see a huge 63kg clash between 2019 World bronze medalist Alireza NEJATI (IRI) at 60kg and 2021 World silver medalist Leri ABULADZE (GEO). Nejati was at the Tokyo Olympics as well but finished 10th out of 16 competitors. Abuladze escaped from difficult positions in Oslo and ended up reaching the final where he lost 4-5 to Meysam DALKHANI (IRI).

The two will also face a challenge from U23 Euro champion Hrachya POGHOSYAN (ARM) who had defeated Abuladze 1-1 in the semifinal of that tournament. He also entered at the senior World Championships but lost to Stig BERGE (NOR) in the opening round.

The 55kg weight class on the first day will feature '21 junior world bronze medalist Akyikat KULZHIGIT UULU (KGZ) and 2017 junior world champion Poya DAD MARZ (IRI). Mavlud RIZMANOV (RWF), the 2021 U23 Euro bronze medalist will also be a wrestler to keep an eye on.

The other bronze medalist Aivengo RIKADZE (GEO) is also entered while Iran decided to send Mohammad NAGHOUSI (IRI), who won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Ufa.
