Freestyle started today. Iran won 3 out of 5 golds in the first day but is behind India in team points. Mohammadian got the gold easily as expected. Savadkouhi won gold too. But the best moment was Iran's greatest wrestling prospect 19 year old Amouzad winning gold in his first 65kg outing since moving up in weight by beating Bajrang one of the world's best in this weight. 65kg is an Olympic weight and is considered freestyle's toughest and most congested weight and one in which Iran hasn't done well for many years. Let's hope amouzad can continue his progress and reach his immense potential.
Agreed! Dont mean to be a party pooper. I have concerns that this guy wont stay at 65. Seriously hope so but Im worried he Will move Up.

Nevermind. Just checked height stats and this is His natural Weight class.

Just seemed to good to be true to have amouzad att 65 permanently! I can seriously relate to the frustration navid is feeling about lower weight classes in Iran!

I believe he will stay in 65kg until Paris2024 at least. As you said considering his height this is his fit right now. He will have to battle it out with Yazdani junior to represent in this weight but I belive he is the overall better wrestler at the end of the day. In 57kg we have some future hope with Sarlak and to less extent Atri but our worst weight remains 74kg. Let's hope Nokhodi (not our friend in PFDC ) can prove me wrong. I really like Firouzpour brothers too, since I saw them in junior world champs I have a feeling they would become great. One of them just stromed the Asian champs without giving up a point.

Well 65kg is known for the big 4. Otoguru, Aliyev, Rashidov and Bajrang. That is why it is so exciting and no one can call the winner beforehand. Amouzad just beat one of the top4 so hopefully he can get in there.

Yazdani Jr is no longer 65 KG, he is now 70 KG and he looks MUCH better. I’m hopeful he can get to 74 KG for the next Olympics.

            Paris ‘24 lineup:
            57 - Alireza Sarlak
            65 - Rahman Amouzad
            74 - Yazdani Jr
            86 - Hassan
            97 - Goleij/Mohammadian
            125 - Zare

Absolutely gutted for Ghasempour that there is no 92 KG.

              When are the Asian games?

Ahh nice. I wasn't aware he moved already to 70kg. Given he is tall it makes better sense I guess to go to 74kg. So he will battle it with Nokhodi for Paris. For 97kg I wouldn't count out Firouzpour yet.
It really sucks that they kept reducing wrestling weights. 6 weights is a joke. Ghasempour could have easily had an Olympic gold otherwise.

10th of September this year but there is a chance it will be delayed by a year due to covid in China.

Check him out at yasar dogu. He is a perfect fit for 70kg.

His guard and stance issues have been drastically resolved by moving Up.

Seems like Gable Stevenson is returning to wrestling. Att least att college level.

For me Zare and Stevenson revolutionized the heavyweights. Theyre like agile LHWs and made heavyweights watchable.

I know many liked the Genom Akgul rivalry but honestly Stevenson and Zare Will be legendary IF that dude come back.
