here he is with his idol.

his physique (very lanky in addition to strong) and energy levels + technique all give him the fundamentals to be a future champ
He elbow controls like Tsabolov! Was slamming him to the ground! I think his mother is ossetian and father from mazandaran! loool

This is his loss against Uguev. It was 50-50 until he tried some ahmagh bazi scramble he couldn't handle. He almost flipped him but got exposed badly. Until then he was in control more than Uguev.

Whenever I see this fight I can't believe we sent Atri... Within a year he will dethrone Uguev badly. Wait and see.

This only reinforces the perspective that the competition is squandering our talents. Iranian try outs/nationals are way too tight.

Depends on height and growth of height. I would guess he will be, as you said, more of the lanky sort. Thing is, he has most likely finished growing. My guess is most likely not over 70, max 74. But it is good news that he has many options.

Im amazed he can hold such a low stance given his physique. He is strong as a horse, underhooks good, elbow controls good, has good hand fighting, closes distance good. Everything about his skills are fire! Except scrambling and he shoots to little for my taste.

Amouzad seems to have that explosiveness/energy that we saw from American wrestlers this Olympics. What do you think?

Love this video. From last year for Yazdani's birthday (he's front and center). Traditional Mazanderani dancing

Yes he do!!! He horses around with wrestlers 7-10 years his senior! He made Uguev look like unbaked khamir.

The guy has tremendous heart. He isnt the mental collapse type of wrestler. We will witness last second greatness from this kid in the future. Also if he pursues it he will be one of those motivational speaker types. He also has this ability to fire up people mentally.

Some more scouting where we asses probability of wrestlers being selected:

92 kg: Ghassempour I say is 90 percent given. They will make karimi and some other dude wrestle out. Winner will be challenging ghassempour for 92 kg spot. Reason for Ghassempour almost selected is that Karimi has had two shots at 92 kg competition. Of course he medaled both times and is the most technical wrestler in this weight class outside Iran. Thing is he has 0-3 record against Cox. Normally thats not a problem, but Karimi can't get to Cox legs for some reason. Cox has sound TD defence. Ghassempour on the other hand is the best shooter in upper weight classes in Iran. His shots are as fast as Alireza Dabirs and he is STRONG.

57 kg: Yasar Dogu winner Gholizadegan vs Sarlak. Sarlak was horrible in Poland. They will wrestle out and/or it will be decided after Gholizadegans Junior worlds run. If you guys find Atri lackluster, Sarlak is horrible for iranian standards. With Amouzad going up in weight classe i think National team is continuing looking for options to Atri.

Will Lopez be in World Champs? If not, Mirzazadeh could have a chance.

This is so sick! From 7:50 onwards... He sprawls away form TD attempt. Then he underhooks really hard from sprawl position, transition to a leg attack to complete the counter for 2p .... as an icing on the cake he goes for the gut wrench directly for 2 more p. Sickest thing I've ever witnessed!

honestly I have a lot of respect for DT. I remember some people saying he is an asshole and doesnt have "pahlevan" character, or that he tries to create feud in his head to hate yazdani before they meet on the mat... Honestly there is none of that. He only respects hassan and thinks hes one of the greatest of all time.

For yazdani I think its about just finding he right balance. His conservative approach was better than previous two approaches, but overly conservative. If he can choose just a few moments to shoot within a more conservative framework like the one he built in this match, I think he will avenge these losses in the coming years.

Can you guys also not wait to see Yazdani, Geraei, Zare, Saravi, Mirzazadeh and others in action again? It is massive talent. We can compare it to the times of the likes of Sourian, Noroozi, Rezaei, Ghasemi, Lashgari, and Goudarzi.
