Canada is much better than before.
I don't think they're good enough to qualify for the World Cup, but they made the final round of WCQ in CONCACAF for the first time in over 20 years!

They have a few very good players (Larin - Besiktas, David - Lille, Hoilett - no club right now) and one world class player (Alphonso Davies - Bayern Munich).
Their management isn't great either but this is the best bunch of players they've had for a while. If they get lucky they might be able to surprise.

So Qatar beat El Salvador 3-2 in the Quarter Finals. Will face either US/Jamaica in semi finals. They have been quite impressive!

Great job Canada. Considering the injuries, they’ve done great. Beating Mexico would be a huge surprise.

US beat Jamaica 1-0 (scored in the last 10 minutes). Jamaica had some sitters they should have scored but their strikers were shooting like they were in molasses, no power at all. US had some really nice chances, but the Jamaican GK kept the score sheet very low. Qatar has a chance, but it will be tough. Would be awesome to see a Qatar-Mexico final. Respect to Qatar to making it the the Semi's.

agreed. This team is real deal. Huge test for them their next match in semis. Go Canada 🇨🇦

It’s a real shame Canada doesn’t have Davies, Jonathan Davis, Scott Arfield or Atiba Hutchinson for this tournament……they would have a really good shot at beating Mexico if they did. Hutchinson even with his super old age has played amazing footy for besiktas the guy has aged like a fine wine.

They have played well and still have a chance but if those guys were around I’d put $ they would upset Mexico who hasn’t looked as impressive or as dominant as usual.

Qatar has been explosive offensively vs some really shit concacaf teams, but man their defense... It looks even worse than before!

just look at these highlights vs EL SALVADOR

                    or this one vs PANAMA

its frankly embarassing. In Almoez and Akram Afif, and to a lesser extent some of their african (Sudanese) CMs who are quite mobile and physically gifted (Abdulaziz Hatem) they have developed some solid players but basically nothing of improvement to their backline.

Will be a huge issue for them if not addressed before WC.

I know Davies is injured but why the other 3 are not available?

USA didn't bring their first team, their squad are mainly made from MLS players. They have about 20 players or maybe more who play in Europe.

I think they're all injured too.

And Davies is "injured" - meaning Bayern Munich told him we don't want you to play in this tournament.

This tournament is preparation for WC qualifiers anyway. Canada won it before and failed many times in WCQ.
I think us did a right thing to bring local league players and with injuries to key players for Canada some others can step up hopefully for WC qualifiers

This is the first time since 1998 qualifiers that anyone thinks Canada might have a chance at all in the qualifiers. Most of the 2000s were really bad for Canadian football.

I disagree I think it’s really stupid to use this tournament as a B and C team tournament when you have crucial World Cup qualifiers coming up and a brand new generation/crop of players you need to get together.

This applies to no team more than USA who has that absolute joker of a coach Greg Berhalter. USA has capped hundreds of different players over the last 3-4 years instead of doing what any teams in a fe-build phase needs to do which is to put a steady strong and consistent team together. The crop of players that they have currently is incredible, without a doubt their golden generation but it will 100% go to waste if he stays as the head coach for the reasons I just mentioned. I don’t care how talented of a team you have if they don’t have stability and the opportunity to work together and gel together they will not succeed in reaching their max potential. Literally every camp is just new players after new players. I’ve never seen a national team run like that……only the US soccer federation could mess it up this bad

I always wanted Taylor Twellman to become head of the federation but unfortunately US soccer is full of politics just like Iran, AFC, FIFA, etc.
